Fake or Real (Authentic, Genuine, etc.) -- Official Authentication Thread

Defintely fake. Zegna pants have triple closures, inside button, inside hook and outside button. Rise on pants also looks too small.

    Together?

Looks ok to me. but you will get better ideas if you post in SWD.

Help with tie and shirt combinations

I think number 2 is the best combo. Hard to tell without a jacket, but it looks just passable. From the angle, the tie looks too long. The 1st tie is way too casual. I would never wear it, even for casual wear. In number 3, there are too many lines going in too many different directions...

Advice on pocket square and tie combination with a double breasted suit

Either pocket square is OK. I would try a tie with a smaller pattern and some color. Knot looks too big for shirt collar in foto b, but it could be the angle of the foto..

    LuxeSwap - Official Affiliate Thread

I purchased the Kiton shoes new. I normally wear a 9.5 (sometimes a 10). I hoped they would fit but they were too big for me. Shoes are even more beautiful than in the pictures.

Recent Purchases (Classic menswear - formerly Men's clothing)

Mark Shale had 3 stores in the Chicago area when it closed in Dec 2012. It carried Canali, Jack Victor, Ike Behar and Zanella. Sorry to see it closed.

    Crockett & Jones vs Ferragamo

The SF have a thin rubber sole which is good when it rains. The SF have a soft leather and can look stubby to some eyes. The CJ are a little pointier. If this is going to be your only captoe, you may get more use out of the CJ. Nordstrom carries the fantino. Syd Jerome in Chicago also...

Anyone else see the irregularity in this suit?

Are the horizontal stripes on a vest and a jacket supposed to line up? Or is it bad to line up? On sweaters, you rarely see the stripes on the arms and body line up. yes, skokie IL.

Anyone else see the irregularity in this suit?

Pattern is mis-matched on vest at 3rd button from top? Pattern seems to match above and below,

    Opinions on these ties?

1 is ok. 3 is a maybe depending on the color in real life. As Vinny said, 5 is ok if dots. Those are wearable for a change of pace or to try something different, but not something I would wear or recommend for an important occasion. For $15-30, you can buy nicer ties here or on ebay.

What the Workers at Esquire Wear

I would have thought that they dressed nicer. Sorry if this is a duplicate thread---I didn't see it on the search. http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2012/08/01/work-wear-office-style-at-esquire/

    Bruno Magli or Allen Edmunds?

I have both the Maioco and the PA. The Maioco has a longer toe cap which I prefer. When I hold the PA, it looks stubby, but when I wear the PA it looks fine. The Maioco is a much softer leather and a little sleeker sole (bc it is not goodyear). The PA looks a little more solid. It depends...

Need off white shirt for a wedding.

You should get the regular collar and a regular shirt. Both of those shirts look like they have studs and are tuxedo shirts. You are going to wind up looking like you are trying to imitate a tuxedo. There are ties that are designed for weddings. Others may be able to post examples of...

Need off white shirt for a wedding.

I am a newb but I'll try. I think you should wear a white shirt. If you wear an off-white shirt, you risk looking in your pictures that you are wearing a dull or gray shirt. Even tho you are wearing a suit and not a tux, black tux and white shirt are the classic combo. Also, you will look...

    Wedding suit shopping in Chicago

Saks and Neiman-Marcus are having sales. Syd Jerome on LaSalle and Madison has some suits for less than $1000. Mark Shale in 900 N Michigan has suits in that price range. Not downtown but try Off 5th (in Northbrook, Schaumburg and Gurnee) and NM Last Call (Gurnee). 40% off suits at Off 5th...

    Ferragamo Tramezza on eBay

If you check his other auctions, it looks like he is also auctioning the same or similar shoe in an 8.5D. Current bid is $31.51. Might be a good alternative if you are already taking a chance on the fit or are on the borderline between an 8 and 8.5.

151 N. State St: Hartmarx Factory Closeout in Chicago for June

I stopped by. Nothing spectacular. As I recall, HF suits were $700, 3 for $1800. I saw some nice 1/2 linen 1/2 cashmere sweaters that button all the way to the neck that were $50 (originally priced at $525). Bobby Jones polos were $60 (marked down from $80). HF pants were around $150, and...

    opinions on this Isaia suit?

I used to have a suit like that. I liked the colors and it looked great. However, I found myself limited in the shirts and ties that I could wear with it. Maybe I should have bought more stuff to go with it.

Ask A Question, Get An Answer... - Post All Quick Questions Here (Classic menswear)

Hi Guys, Need your opinions on the below: http://www.auctiva.com/hostedimages/...0,0,0&format=0 It is a 2011 Zegna Soft. Real or fake? Thoughts? The cloth is from Zegna but the suit is not made by Zegna. Many people mistakenly interpret the material to mean that it is a Zegna suit. A...

Fake or Real (Authentic, Genuine, etc.) -- Official Authentication Thread

I have seen a lot of Zegna and I have never seen the burgundy label before. I don't know why Zegna would bother to put a Tessuto label on their own suits. All the Zegna jackets that I have seen have an underarm shield where the sleeve meets the body. Yours doesn't seem to have that but it is...
