Clutch and a folding holdall ?

I have Papworth briefcase, but now want to reduce the size and weight of EDC. Therefore I am looking at a combination of a men's clutch and a folding holdall for EDC: clutch for carrying iPad, phones, chargers, umbrella, Filofax, keys and folded holdall, and holdall for carrying extra things...

Bespoke Alder shoes - are they good?

I came across this company while doing internet search: http://www.adlershoes.co.uk/index.html . The method they measure your feet makes sense and the price is so good that I wonder if they are taking any shortcuts. Do you know about the quality of the shoes, construction, materials they use...

    Do I have a problem? Maybe/maybe not!

If you feel your passion for clothes is causing or may cause you problems in the future, then perhaps you need some moderation. I like the advice of mensimageconsultant to use a spreadsheet - I use it and it really makes me feel that I have enough clothes :D . I frequently read articles on...

Would you buy a good quality MTM or high-end RTW shirt?

From my experience it is better to get it from a local tailor in order to correct it faster and with less hassle. Never, never go with travelling tailor Ravis Tailors and bear in mind they trade under other names too - while fabric is good, the stitching is not straight everywhere, their...

Non-iron shirts in London: get it MTM from Ravis Tailors, adjust RTW from CT or some other option?

Unfortunately, nobody replied and I decided to buy from Ravis Tailors. They are BAD!!! CT corrected by a tailor is a safer bet. Still in dispute with Ravis Tailors for my money back, but it does not look like I will get any satisfaction... And I am not that demanding customer and many members of...

    Swaine Adeney Brigg in Administration?

I think SAB took totally different route from what you expect - I bought Papworth 81 briefcase for less than £100 10 years ago (I admit, I was very lucky) when they were about £300£350 (if you nicely ask for a very big discount), now they cost £1100!!! Common, I think only a year ago they were...

    Synthetic (Dri Fit) polo shirts?

I did not come across them until yesterday and was very surprised. Many synthetic Dri-Fit polo shirts I saw were quite well made – accurate stitch lines, fabric comfortable to touch (not Smedley, but still good) and good silhouette. Plus synthetic materials usually hold better their colour and...

First W.W.Chan suit for work – need advice (mainly on fabric quality)

I got two replies, both offline. This is how I interpret the answers: 1. How to select good durable fabric? - Ask tailors what would be their recommendation. European fabrics are good, but Asian fabrics improved considerably in the last 10 years. VBC is one of the most popular fabrics and for a...

John Smedley Ives - is it too small for me?

Asked my wife - she think shoulders are fine, but chest is tight. I like close fitting shirts, does this one look too tight? [/ATTACHMENT]

John Smedley Ives - is it too small for me?

Dear all, I bought John Smedley Ives polo shirt from internet recently. It has different design from usual polos - it strongly tapers in shoulders after arm pits - the shoulder seam is going at about 45 degrees. So, I am confused - is it small for me or it is not for my body type? I looked at...

Please criticise my W.W. Chan shirts - is right shoulder ok?

No idea, sorry. I did not ask for anything different from standard shirts, but Patrick took many measurements, particularly of my shoulders. Yes, it was done during one of their tours - I don't trust my own measurements :D.

First W.W.Chan suit for work – need advice (mainly on fabric quality)

Hi all, I need advice for a business suit. I think I will order it from W.W. Chan – price is high, but I can pay $1500-$2000 for a suit and I like the quality. Because it is a business suit, I will want it solid navy blue or navy blue with thin black pin stripes. I try to keep my wardrobe to the...

How many times do you wear a dress shirt before it goes to the cleaners??

Washing shirts damages shirts, therefore I try wearing shirts twice before washing. However, some cities such as London and Moscow are highly polluted that I wear shirts only once before washing. I also find that French cuffs are easier to make dirty than barrel cuffs.

Please criticise my W.W. Chan shirts - is right shoulder ok?

Dear Forum Members, I recently received couple of shirts from W.W. Chan. Quality is great, but it seems to me that right shoulder on both shirts looks wrong size for me. Could you tell me if it is only my imagination or it is true? I have not washed shirts yet, but W.W.Chan prewashes fabric, so...

    Which leather bag?

I have Papworth briefcase which I bought about 8 years ago when it was way cheaper than now. It definitely got better with time. However, I find it now quite heavy. If I was buying a bag now, I would most likely go special order.

Non-iron shirts in London: get it MTM from Ravis Tailors, adjust RTW from CT or some other option?

I work in London and want to get myself non-iron shirts. I don’t want to pay over £50 per shirt and therefore have more or less two options – go MTM with Ravis Tailors (they should be soon in the UK on tour) or buy CT shirts (it fits be best among RTW non-iron shirt makers on Jermyn Street) and...

Interchangeable (business and casual) shirts and lightweight gym t-shirts?

I was preparing for a trip when I realised my problem: when my trips are longer than 3-4 weeks, most of my shirts need to be universal and work as business formal, business casual or smart casual as required. Since I find it boring to use business formal shirts outside working hours, I wonder...

Want to buy a sport jacket (first after 10 years) – RTW, MTM or bespoke? And where?

Yes, I'm in between sizes. Theis is the only pair of jeans I have, would you recommend wearing it with darker trousers? Thanks
