New Wardrobe for Management Consultant (Help!)

This is from today's Globe and Mail in Canada: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life/...rticle1555505/ Here's the problem with this type of stuff - leads to a false inference for the original poster - that to be successful as a new Associate at a Management Consultancy - one must dress...

New Wardrobe for Management Consultant (Help!)

After 15 years in the business, this is what I would tell myself were I to start new. First, It really doesn't matter that much. If you are at a top firm, clothing does not make a difference - not one bit - to your seniors. It's the quality of your thinking, analysis, and writing. Period...

    Suit advice for France

First - congrats on the admission. Per clothing - you're fine for now. At the recruiting events we hold at INSEAD, most people dress casually. Just have a conservative suit for your interviews and you'll be fine. Always remember: we're recruiting you for your brain - not your style.

Why does Allen Edmonds Make so Many Crappy Shoes?

While I share your taste, what really impressess me about AE is that they constantly evolve their product portfolio and they aren't afraid to take risks. One of those risks - the "Seven" line which is now discontinued - provided two outstanding shoes that are now in my rotation. It's rare for a...

When to move over to the world of bespoke shoes?

Great question. I'm in the same boat. I wonder how similar it is to bespoke suits? I feel for a suit it is noticed as much on the "outside" regarding fit as it is a pleasure on the "inside." For shoes, I feel I can get some amazing looking stuff that I can tolerate from a comfort level...

    Paris shopping

If you're hunting for shoes, a few thoughts: For Berluti, visit the Rue Marbeuf store - it's closer to Corthay and... JLP is quite close If this is a serious trip, try to schedule a visit with Dimitri Gomez who is also in the 8th Finally, stop by Aurbecy - they're not discussed too much in...

The Watch Appreciation Thread (Reviews and Photos of Men's Timepieces by Rolex, Patek Philippe, Brei

FWIW, I encountered a few problems with the FPJ CS... gorgeous watch with a lovely movement, but looks like reliability issues aren't limited to the Octa family. Wow. Have never heard that. Time to do some more research - thanks for the heads-up, medtech. Lee

Shikar - thanks. It's an older incarnation, prior to the Master Control (just plain old Master). Zip - first, you have a lovely portfolio of watches! Second, I'm really perplexed by JLC's style shift that spreading across the line. They have a few new pieces that are in the classic mold (e.g...

The Watch Appreciation Thread (Reviews and Photos of Men's Timepieces by Rolex, Patek Philippe, Brei

My two watches - sorry, not savvy in how to post the pictures properly. Next acquisition is a bit vexing for me: Path 1: evening watch (Vacheron Constantin Patrimony, JLC ultra slim, GO Senator Sixties, or wait a year and go with the F.P.J. Chronometer Souverain) Path 2: PAM base like the 176...

My choice is the JLC Master Control Geographic. Thinking about getting a brown croc strap for it, what do you think (I use mainly brown shoes/belts)? [/IMG] Yeah - I know it's from a while back, but I'm trying to catch up.... Still, I really feel JLC jumped the shark with the new version...

What to wear for MBA interview?

While I had a good chuckle at the Brioni/Oxxford comment, it's really overkill to spend too many cycles thinking about what you're wearing to get into B-school. Why? Well, the key thing you're attempting to accomplish is to stand out as an interesting personal story-line that would add to...
