    Tampa

I like Central Avenue Oyster Bar in St. Pete. Downtown St Pete is pretty lively. Can't help on Tampa. http://www.centralaveoysterbar.com/

    Sonoma Birthday Recommendations

You might want to look at Healsburg Bar and Grill for Friday. They have great outdoor seating and awesome food. You can walk to many tasting rooms before or after eating. Also, John Ash may be an option for Saturday. I've been there many times and have always greatly enjoyed it.

    Bourbon.

Ok. I just polished off a bottle of Four Roses single barrel (from BevMo). I liked it but want to try something new and I'm looking for advice as I'm pretty new to bourbon. I've tried Mark's and Bulliet as a base for my ol' fashion. I've now tried makers 46 and four roses straight - I liked the...

    Bourbon.

I believe the Draegers in San Mateo has a bottle, along with the rest of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. Thanks Kyoung05. They had a bottle and I picked it up. The place was like the wine museum in the middle of a grocery store. Anyway, I gave it a try and really enjoyed it.

    Bourbon.

I've been following this thread for some time. I've moved up in the world from Makers and Bulleit (mostly for ol' fashions) to Makers 46 and now Four Roses with an ice cube. I would like to find a bottle of Eagle Rare 17 year to see what the fuss is all about. I've called around and cant seem to...

    Best Time of Life?

Guys, I'm in a pretty good place in life (healthy, 40 yr old, great wife, love my job) and I was wanted to ask the senior members (i.e. age not number of posts), when was it best for you? I'm slightly overweight but I'm passionate about cooking and I'm crazy about wine...that's my biggest...

Suggest a Nice Hotel & Restaurant in San Francisco

Check out Betelnut for a great Asian-fusion restaurant. Get the firecracker shrimp and the green beans. It's my favorite but there are many options in SF. http://www.betelnutrestaurant.com Also, I loved the Wayfare grille. I ate there twice in to days last week. Get a reservation at the...

    Does Expensive Wine Taste Better

Five star thread. 05 future were high because the grapes were good in that region. That was my point. Go to Costco and find a 05 Bordeaux, buy it, drink it....be happy.

    Does Expensive Wine Taste Better

You cannot make the assumption that cost equals quality. I have a feeling the 2010 vintage from Napa and Sonoma will not be very good because of the bad weather. Wineries will not discount for this. Likewise, 2005 Bordeaux and 2007 Sonoma/Napa wines can be found at reasonable prices and I find...

I think I hate San Francisco.

Have some perspective! SF isn't perfect, but it's the best US city hands down.

    Sleeping on long flights

If I need to fully recline, I normally take it in two stages so the person behind me isn't too put out. I hate it when the person in front of me slams back without any regard for my space.

    Sleeping on long flights

I just flew SFO to Zurich and a little kid behind me sing 50% of the way. I said nothing.... but I would have appreciated if the parents would have attempted to distract the lil' guy. I always tell the windows and middle seat to feel free to wake me up if they need to get out. I hate that...

Cocktails by decade – give me your grandpa's best drink

My grandfathers drink was an ol' fashion (1960) and my dad's drink is still a manhatten (1970). My Granpa's favorite pie was minced meat....no relation to the question but it's good to know...

    Working in Italy

I'm working out of Milan in a technical position. I don't mean to over think it...just don't want to be uncomfortable like my first time in Ireland.
