    Tailoring shirt side seams NYC

Hey, Searched threads and found some good threads in dress shirt tailoring. I see that some places like Cardelinos do it, but with a cheaper single stitch. Any RECENT recommendations for a place that can open the sides of shirts and taper them, then restitch them like originally? I'd like to...

    Cardigan help.

Into pants??? I think lots of questions could be answered by one's self if asked out loud or just experimented in private in front of the mirror. Of course if you're a hipster (or whatever group is now the "rebels"), then maybe you'll purposely going agsainst the grain.

Wash or dry clean cotton trousers?

Machine wash on delicate. Then hang dry. Complete over kill to dry clean. In fact, a delicate cycle with a nice non-harsh detergent and hang drying is just fine to do.

    Buying my first blazer

You're recommending his FIRST blazer be MTM??? He probably doesn't know his exact tastes to make commissioning one worth it. Of course it's worth it if he's about to pay $1000 for a blazer, but then again, when have we ever recommended a scenrio such as that? Op, shop a little and find a...

Agreed... Shortening sleeves is fine. Shortening the jacket itself, No, don 't do it. Try Brooks Brothers for a similar fit. Big sale now.

    Buying my first blazer

I don't necessarily think you need to worry so much about half vs full canvas. For example, the polo RL jackets are half canvas and drape wonderfully (on me at least). My best advice is to try on many different brands whenever you get a chance and keep note of what fits best. "Slow and...

Wet wether friendly shoes to wear with a suit

All those "rules" are not rules. They are just what you wear if you happen to appreciate very high quality, sophisticated clothing. That doesn't mean it's appropriate for everyone/all situations. If you appreciate that level of craftsmanship, wear them on dry sunny days or to special events...

Starting a new wardrobe - Should be fun and I hope you guys can help!

I think you're in the right mindset. A couple things to keep in mind: 1) Fit is everything. If you don't have the reaction you did when you put on those full canvas sportcoats, then don't buy it. 2) Whenever you try on something and it fits great, make note of the brand, model, and size...

Biggest bs answer from a online retailer (Everlane)

You're being an unreasonable shithead. They gave a very detailed reason why and seem to know exactly what they are talking about. Be patient or buy somewhere else. They know this is losing them business and probably tried to explain thoroughly so that you'll shop with them and not be...

Suit Jacket Alternatives for Business Casual Attire at Work

Wait, so if you wear a suit no tie you won't look like the top dog guys, but you'll feel uncomfortable if you wear a blazer/sports coat??? I do't understand….

Where would you wear this and wear would you not be caught dead in it?

A dark navy or charcoal solid 100%wool fabric from the Ludlow line will be just fine. Stick with it since you seem to be happy with the model/fit.

Where would you wear this and wear would you not be caught dead in it?

It is inappropriate for anything you'd wear a tuxedo or interviews. Otherwise it's very nice. Nothing to worry about thr pattern.

Why not post a picture of him? That way we can try to estimate which brands would fit him based on his frame, size, and proportions.

    Suit for a College student

Try getting a navy and a charcoal suit from suit supply. Order several sizes and keep the size that fits in each color. Then buy black AE Park Avenues. skip out on brown and keep in very conservative for now. Also buy somber/solid/very subtle pattern burgundy, navy, etc. ties.

    First Date Style Help Wanted

Agreed on the cotton blazer... something unstructured. Brown driving mocassins would be very casual but nice. Make sure everything is relatively fitted and slim to get that casual look... otherwise it looks frumpy and "old guy". But possibly more important than the clothes: Does he/she know...

Agreed on the solid, but why two piece? He can simply not use the vest with a 3 piece.

Suit newbie seeks help with first bespoke suits.

Whatever you want is fine. However, there is no way you can buy one suit and wear that everyday for work. It will get worn extremely quickly, people will realize it's the same one, it will get dirty quickly, etc. You'll need at least 3 suits if you'll be wearing them everyday. For your party...
