    How Fitted Should Overcoats Be?

The trend now seems to be for overcoats to have a very slim close fit. Yet I've seen people like Cary Grant wearing them much looser and still looking good. Is there any reason a coat can't be slightly baggy? In these two pictures the coats are not tight yet I think they look better for it...

    Harvie & Hudson Suit

Has anyone tried the RTW suits from H&H? I want a general workwear suit so something reliable and not too fancy. What's the quality of their suits as I have bought other items from them and been impressed. I was told by H&H their suits are half canvassed.

    Jacket Style: Raised shoulder seams?

I have seen a suit jacket which has arm joins that are raised and not sat flat at the shoulder part ? Is this some kind of new style or influenced by any particular past aspect?

    Why Choose Curved Jeans?

Can anyone explain why curved jeans are so popular? I have recently been looking to buy more jeans and am wondering what body types this style suits and what it actually does for someone's legs and body in terms of looks? Advice appreciated!

HARVIE & HUDSON NAVY COVERT COAT 38R

I am currently having a sort out of items as am moving into a flat so reluctantly am selling a lot of items I have amassed but in truth hardly/if ever worn. Here for sale is a Harvie and Hudson covert coat in navy blue with a velvet collar. Bought last year so worn one winter and since been...

MAGEE (IRELAND) FAWN COVERT OR CURRAGH COAT 38 REGULAR

I'm reluctantly selling this as I am downsizing. It is unworn and so is a chance to grab an absolute bargain. Only had it two years. Has been hung up in a cloth suit bag so as new in condition. It has a wonderful satin gold lining - a classic fawn fitted overcoat with a velvet collar, slanted...

    What Belts For Summer Trousers?

Hi, what are peoples preferences regarding belts for summer trousers i.e. linen or chino trousers? I recently bought a canvas/leather mix belt and found the leather element too heavy and a bit too formal for casual wear, it also caught the heat. Anyone recommend just elastic style belts s a...

    Thoughts on this jacket....

I'm thinking of buying a new light blazer for the summer and have found this one from Pakeman Catto and Carter, it's an Italian cotton light blue striped one. Is the style (i'm thinking of the fairly wide lapels compared to today's high street offerings) okay or a no no - in terms of looking too...

    Sewing Up A Coat Vent?

On a covert coat I have the single vent at the back overlaps slightly so that in sticks out more to one side and doesn't sit flat. This is unsightly and therefore I wonder if it is possible to sew the vent up and whether this is a common problem?

    Getting A Covert Coat Adjusted

I wondered whether anything can be done alterations-wise to adjust the single vent on the back of a covert coat. The problem I have is that when worn the vent sticks out, it's almost over-lapping on itself. I'm not entirely sure why it does this but is there much that can be done to sort it? I...

    Hackett Overcoat Quality & Fit?

Hi, does anyone have any experience or opinions on Hackett wool overcoats? There is a nice one in this winter's collection, the only grip being that they do them in small, med, large fittings rather than suit fitting sizes. Are there overcoats more suited to the slimmer figure?

    Tyrwhitt's Autumn Collection

I've just be perusing the new collection in Charles Tyrwhitt online, and as a person who has been a regular customer, I must say this season's has to be one of the worst. The handmade ties are great quality but the colours available pretty awful! For some reason they're doing a winter boating...

    Boden Autumn Lines

I recently went on Boden's website and noted some interesting things for Autumn. For one thing they are doing suits again, this time a wool/mohair mix. The jacket is a bit under £200 (cannot recall exact price) and trousers are separate. The one thing I do like in their current range is the...

Jackets That Don't Sit Snug Round Neck

I recently ordered a tweed jacket and it's a very nice fit generally, the only question I have is that it sits slightly away from the neck at the back, so there is a small gap round the collar at the side and back of the neck line - accentutated as it's cut fairly square at the back of the neck...

    Wearing Only White Shirts

I'm a big fan of Cary Grant - as can been seen from my avatar - and reading a good pictorial guide to his dress, it's clear that he took the simple and classic approach to clothes: keep it simple, less is more! By this I mean that when you look at his formal attire, it was mainly white shirts...

    Pakeman Catto and Carter

I recently bought a navy striped blazer from this company and thought I'd share my findings. The jacket arrived in very good time packed in a very conscientious way, with lots of nice tissue paper sealed with little PCC stickers sealing it together. Therefore the jacket, which is cotton...

What Trousers With Navy Cord Jacket?

I'm looking at buying this navy cord jacket and wondered what trousers would go with it? I'm not always a big fan of jeans so that pretty much rules them out a lot of the time.

    Summer Raincoats/Macs

I am looking at options for a summer raincoat/mac, maybe in trench coat style. However, what do people recommend material wise as Burberry do mostly nylon ones and for the amount they ask, I;m not sure I want something of man-made fibre. Is there any material I should be looking for to keep me...
