Thank f*** too... temperature in Melbourne dropped to 7.5 degrees on the way back to the office (its now a balmy 8.5 degrees....woo hoo!). I thought you might be part of the SF bretheren...wearing a well-fitted non-charcoal/black/navy suit in Melbourne with a spotted tie and showing just the...

That'd be me- small world indeed! Nice suit BTW PG- the flannel looked pretty warm too! After looking at a few Zara suits, I think at least one seems fully canvassed (3 layers in the chest, and below buttonhole). But the canvas used seems vey lightweight and looked wierd once on (maybe suit...

During my lunchtime wanderings today, i called through Harrolds- i usually look at Paul Smith mainline stuff, because i quite like the style. I have never bought anything there though- too expensive for my tastes. Anyway, the sales guy showed me a new line of "Harrolds" label suits. He said...

Herringbone at the tops of Collins Street has C&J's too (unsure which last they are from)- presume the other stores do too. I'm not sure if they fit your category of faceless corporation, but they are not the small operation that American Tailors are.

Suits - the two I own are made of good fabric, fully canvassed, with horn buttons. I will not comment on how well they fit as thats a very individual thing. Are herringbone suits really fuilly canvassed- just looks at lunch and most seemed to be fused. Maybe they used to be or maybe I just...

This is professional re-weaving. They take fibres from another part of the garment (or scraps in my case) and they reweave the cloth strand by strand rather than patching it up. I looked around in Melbourne and there was no one with that skill. Emmanual Dakis on Chapel Street Windsor does...

I am a 15.5/36 in TM Lewin slim fits - last order I thought that I would try the 16. The difference in the body was huge to the point that it looked like a joke, so I sent them back for 15's. It's amazing the difference in one size up. I would love to order more as they do fit well, but want to...

I have a few shirts from different makers: All 100% cotton SLIM FIT with no pockets. TM Lewin : Very slimming, decent fabric , good construction, non fused collars, plastic buttons, (says pattern matching but only 1/3 is matched), collars shrink? Charles Tyrwhitt : Not as slimming, decent...

Was just down at the Cafe reading March edition of the Melbourne Magazine that comes with The Age. There's an interesting 4 page article on the financial history of Country Road, if anyone's interested i reading. Saw that magazine and the 4 page spread on suits- nearly choked when I read...

Just did a walk through of Harrolds Collins Street Store on my lunchbreak. They are about to shut down for 2 weeks renovation so they have 60%-70% right across the store. With 70% off, harrolds begins to be good value for money! Some nice buys in there- but is apparently ending tomorrow.

The Definitive Guide to Slim Fit Shirts

Forgot to say, quality wise i'd put H&H a little above TM and TM a bit more above G&H.

The Definitive Guide to Slim Fit Shirts

FWIW, I find the Harvie and Hudson slim fits much slimmer than the TM Lewin and Gieves and Hawkes slim fits. They have the slimness built into the side seams with high arm holes. The other two use darts to take away some fullness but it doesn't seem as effective.
