What Style of Shoe Turns You On Most?

For me, it's the lace-up leather dress shoe with the leather or leather-rubber combo heel. Four or five pair of eyelets and I prefer the derby/ blucher type. Also enjoy the European rtw shoes the most, although I believe Alden and Allen-Edmonds are also very good shoes. Not extremely pointy...

Looking For Luxury Lace-Up Leather Dress Shoes, NIB or Demo, Size 12-C

Thanks Shikar, the Pediwear link worked, and it's a nice looking shoe, except that the styling is just almost identical to my Alden 757 Orthopedic, which is still in pretty fair shape. No point having two virtually-identically-styled shoes in regular rotation, IMO. Here's a "plain toe" style...

Looking For Luxury Lace-Up Leather Dress Shoes, NIB or Demo, Size 12-C

Thanks Shikar for the suggestion. The link connected but the photo didn't come up. I'll have to try again. How does Sargent generally rate for comfort and construction among British shoes? Are they similar in quality to Tricker, Edward Green or Crockett & Jones? Jerry

Just For Fun Poll: Best Leather Dress Shoe in the World / Best For $500

Being a shoe fanatic, I'm curious about your answers, for the best leather dress shoe on the planet, regardless of cost- and the best for $500... I've never seen them in person, but I figure some of you might pick Vass as best of the best, but there may be other much more "rare" finds I've...

no problem at all, hope you find the shoe you want, good luck. the thing is, one day you may get to the point where you will spend a thousand dollars on a shoe without even blinking. I'd like to say "you're crazy" but of course, I'M the guy who's crazy ABOUT SHOES! so... "never say never!"...

Looking For Luxury Lace-Up Leather Dress Shoes, NIB or Demo, Size 12-C

Hi Shoe, Thanks for your reply, and I've heard a lot of good about Santoni (or at least some of them) but that is still beyond my budget. I definitely need to stay South of $400. Appreciate the offer though! Jerry

Anything to do in St. Loius in the afternoon?

I haven't been to St. Louis in years and don't know the city well, but unless it's changed, the area around LaClede's Landing downtown is a mecca for tourists. You can ride inside the Gateway Arch, and the views of the area bridges are good from there. Quite a few restaurants nearby I believe...

Fine Shoe Construction Question: Do Most Have Metal Eyelet Support Rings?

Thanks Roger and Dopey for the feedback on the eyelet grommets. As Roger says, maybe they're not really essential, but knowing they are there gives me some peace of mind... Jerry

Fine Shoe Construction Question: Do Most Have Metal Eyelet Support Rings?

Just curious about a small detail in fine leather dress shoes--- do most have or not have the little metal eyelet support rings under the flaps? There may be a technical name for these, but they are tiny rings surrounding the underneath of the shoelace holes, presumably to help protect the laces...

Let Me Know if You Have a Special Opportunity in an Upscale 12-C Lace Dress Shoe...

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions. It gives me something more to ponder. There are just a lot of "high end" shoes out there and I don't get to see many in person. Sorry I'm late getting back with you but I've been off computer for a few days. But thinking of shoes still! Jerry

OK, Is There a Fancy Magazine Devoted To Upscale Men's Shoes From Around the World?

Thanks so much for the advice LeatherSOLE, Sator and acidicboy. You all must know I'm very hooked on and supportive of this forum, but there's a certain creature comfort to curl up on a rainy night and actually flip the pages of a fine magazine or book. Computers and message boards are...

OK, Is There a Fancy Magazine Devoted To Upscale Men's Shoes From Around the World?

"Last" and I believe a Japanese magazine or two, but I'm not sure where one would find them. Is "Last" in English CoryB, and if so, is it for connoisseurs of great shoes or more a magazine for industry insiders? Jerry

OK, Is There a Fancy Magazine Devoted To Upscale Men's Shoes From Around the World?

PS- There are AT LEAST THREE coffee-table type glossy-covered periodicals devoted solely to great watches of the world, so I just thought--- NEVER MIND!

OK, Is There a Fancy Magazine Devoted To Upscale Men's Shoes From Around the World?

OK, Sator et al, I don't like to give up, so... Is there a certain magazine IN ENGLISH AVAILABLE IN NORTH AMERICA which at least has MANY ads from the world's best shoe makers and regular writeups on dress shoes- even though shoes isn't the sole business of the mag...?

OK, Is There a Fancy Magazine Devoted To Upscale Men's Shoes From Around the World?

Ummmmm.....I'm lucky I even have a Barnes & Noble or Borders nearby! Golly! I kinda meant a magazine in English! Of course great pictures are a universal language, but still, I would want to actually READ information about the shoes...

OK, Is There a Fancy Magazine Devoted To Upscale Men's Shoes From Around the World?

I figure there's a magazine published about nearly anything, so I just wondered if there's one devoted to mouthwatering shoes? Can it be found at places like Barnes & Noble or Borders? I'm clearly too obsessed with this!

How Good Is or Isn't Magnanni As a Dress Shoe?

Hey guys, thanks for your recent comments... I'll take a look at the Mark Shale link, which is new to me... As to them fitting a bit narrow, it's good to know. I had somehow assumed my foot is "wide" but I've had it "measured" on the old fashioned foot scale at two shoe shops recently, and...
