    Atlanta, Georgia

If you want to do law, do not mind the heat, but want to avoid traffic or much of a commute, seems like New Orleans would be perfect.

    Best Harris Tweed?

I was planning to order a Harris tweed jacket in a couple of weeks and recall that someone posted a negative opinion about the Porter & Harding Harris offerings. Scabal has some half width 15 oz stuff at high prices. Minnis has some 13 ounce cloth at low prices. And there is always W. Bill...

Brainstorm: Problems with the Process of Fabric Selection

All of those problems ( but no. 4) can be cured by asking your tailor to send you swatches, including larger cuttings if necessary, of the cloths you have chosen from the books.

They look terrific. Do you recall the cloth numbers?

    W. Bill on Facebook

Forgive me if this has been posted but I was surprised to find a W. Bill Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/pages/W-BILL/160260700680882. Is Smith Woollens next?

    Coat pulling up/curling in

I recently tried on a summer suit I had not worn in a while. The coat is tighter than the last time I wore it which is no surprise as I am slightly larger. What is surprising is that the hem of the coat at the sides and the back tend to pull up and curl in while on. Is this a function of being...

You may want to consult Dominic Casey at Cleverley's. I believe he has a background in orthopaedic shoes.

Summer Style in the deep south?

Are seersucker and white shoes common? Absolutely not. If you want to wear them fine, but if you're doing it to fit in or just not stand out - forget about it. Cotton or linen would be fine as long as you stay with neutral colors (tan, khaki, light grays, etc). High super # wools work too...

    Waistcoat button configuration

The bottom button is not made to be buttoned. Poole and most Savile Row tailors make city waistcoats with six buttons with the bottom "idle" button made in the depicted fashion, in light of the cutom to leave the bottom button undone anyway.

Good to know. I will definitely make a report.

    Manuel Martinez Tailor

Thanks. That's very helpful. I'm in the New Orleans area quite often and may give him a try. I've used a Savile Row tailor who had all his trousers made by an expat in Spain, so I guess a Canadian workshop isn't that strange.

    Manuel Martinez Tailor

There was a recent post about tailor Manuel Martinez in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with an indication that he has his clothes sewn in New York. I have heard good things about Martinez but nothing too specific. Can anybody tell me whether he offers true bespoke and, if so, his approximate price range?

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

This is on the bottom of my queue: This is the only shot of it before making, no selvedge shot, but Frank usually cuts it so the selvedge is on the inside of a pocket, I'll find it and photo it. IIRC this was a sportcoating that I just had made into a three piece. Like I said, its a staid SC...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Many of the Barbera cloths were suitings as well. I recall a pale grey broken herringbone/barleycorn made into three piece that looked great.

Is 62015 a 14 oz or the heavier cloth?

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

The Solaro dream is over. Time to revisit the spring/summer suitings thread. Don't let the dream die. I have one Solaro suit (herringbone) and am ready for another. It wears hot in the summer but, to me, so does everything else. But Solaro is unlike any other cloth and a real pleasure to wear...

    Harrisons Evolution cloth

Does anyone have experience with the 3-ply wool/mohair cloth in Harrisons Evolution bunch? I have been looking for a replacement for the old 13 or 14 oz Tonik cloth and wonder how it compares.

A comparison of bespoke jackets: Rubinacci, NSM, Manuel Martinez

The MM seems to swing out a bit. Rubinacci looks the most harmonious to my eye.

    Harrisons of Edinburgh fabrics

One more please? Any views on Conquest? Thanks in advance. I would like to hear of any experience with the Conquest range as well. I do not recall ever seeing that bunch in person. Several of the patterns look good but I never trust a computer image and the Harrisons site does not offer any...
