Emanuel Berg Shirt Maker experiences or other Los Angeles shirt makers

Hmm, for some reason I was under impression it wasn't MTM. Good to know that it is before I go in. Any other shirt makers you could recommend in the LA area that do more than MTM?

Emanuel Berg Shirt Maker experiences or other Los Angeles shirt makers

Hello, I'm considering get a shirt made by Emanuel Berg. There is a store in Pasadena, The Bloke, that uses Berg as their shirt maker. I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience with either Emanuel Berg or The Bloke. Alternatively, would anyone have any other recommendations for a shirt...

    Wool/Mohair trousers for summer?

I'm searching for a pair of trousers to wear during the summer months. Would a wool and mohair pair be a decent choice, light enough for the hotter months, like these Brooks Brothers pair: http://tinyurl.com/3lcpfv7 Or am I looking at the wrong type of fabrics for the summer? Thanks!

    Oxford BDs without box pleats

I emailed Charles Tyrwhitt about their OCBDs. This is the response I received: "Our Oxford shirts are made the same way as our dress shirts with the double material along the Yolk (across the shoulders)." Is this the box pleat I've been asking about? Or something different?

    Oxford BDs without box pleats

    Oxford BDs without box pleats

Forgive my ignorance, but do all oxfords have some form of pleats (box or shoulder)?

    Oxford BDs without box pleats

Do Oxford BDs exist without the pleated back yoke/box pleat? Or since they are more of a casual/sports shirt do they all have the back pleat? Looking for a few they don't in the 50-100 range.

    First shoe recommendations?

Those shoes are going to be tore up very fast, if you are purchasing only 1 pair of dress shoes for everyday use. What's the dress code? Is it just slacks and a collared shirt? Then, you can get away with bluchers or dress slip-ons. You need 2-3 pairs plus shoe trees for all of them, when you...

    First shoe recommendations?

I think that brown will be much more useful. Since it hardly rains in LA, suede will work well. Unless you are planning to wear lots of black (which you probably won't in LA), avoid black shoes. More information about your budget would really help. Not planning on much black, will take the...

    First shoe recommendations?

I have no idea, either, how things are in LA. That's why I asked I like the look of both the derbies and chukkas, but I'm not a huge fan of the chelsea boots (at least the ones I found). Though the chelsea boots are dressier? I do hope its a growing collection, but only time will tell. Thanks...

    First shoe recommendations?

Ah, I was a little vague in my initial post. In January I will be moving to LA to spend the semester studying in a film program. I'll be working at a film internship on the post production side (editing, trailer house, etc.). I'm not quite sure what the dress code will be, but from my other...

    First shoe recommendations?

I posted this in the small questions thread, but didn't get much of a response. I'm looking for recommendations (brand/model or just type/color) for my first first dress shoe. I've got an college size budget, but I understand quality shoes cost more. I'll primarily be wearing them in a creative...

a dark brown monk-strap by barker black would be my first thought. You certainly took my "willing to spend" part to heart. Thanks for the suggestion. Will look into them.

Ask A Question, Get An Answer... - Post All Quick Questions Here (Classic menswear)

Looking for a recommendation for my first dress shoe (brand or type). In regards to budget, I am a college student but I willing to spend on shoes which will last. Primarily, I am looking for a shoe that will fit into a creative environment (have an internship in the film industry), but also...

    College Fashion Discussion

My dad has worn wingtips all his life. Used to think he looked nerdy. Now I ain't too sure. Funny how that seems to be the case as I am getting older...maybe parents really do know what they are talking about.
