Complete List of Online Suit Tailors

I've been ordering from a place called New Famous Fashions out of TST, Hong Kong. With my measurements on file they managed to produce a linen suit and have it mailed to me (in Norway) in less than 10 days. I should try to post some better pictures...

    Stupid shirt sleeve lengths

My problem is undoubtedly that I won't do custom. I'm just too lazy to put up with the fixed costs (measurements, sending them back to Jantzen for slight changes, etc.) If I could afford to simply have someone measure me and make the perfect template, I'd do it. But I can't. Why not send them a...

Did you ever eat something you regretted?

I love sweetbreads. They are some of my absolute favorite things to eat. I agree! Sweetbread is great. Especially grilled, in Buenos Aires.

What is this red pin I spy? theres a pin-like item in most of his lapel holes? Whatisdis? No idea, but it reminds me of the little marker in the lapel holes you'll see on distinguished French professors. In France, it means you're a member of the Academie Française I think.

    FS: Reduced Dunhill sportcoat

I saw this in the window at Dunhill at the corner of Jermyn street / Picadilly arcade this fall. It's stunning. Too bad it's a tad too small and fixing the sleeves would cost more than the jacket here in Norway...

How many buttons in a vest/waistcoat

That really depends on how the waistcoat is cut. Personally I like them cut with a high gorge and no lapel. The waistcoat's top button will be around where the second button of the shirt (not counting collar buttons) is. In that case, I would go for 6 buttons, but never button the lowest one.

    YOOX Discount Code anyone?

That code works but you need to click the "validate code" or whatever text next to the box. Just hitting enter won't work.

    Trouser advice sought

Yesterday I got two pairs of Incotex, found on sale at Yoox. I paid 90 euro for both and used the free shipping code, so I think I did quite well. However, I think I will have to send them back. I got them in European size 56 (which is a 37-38 inch waist) - the legs are unfinished but there's...

Try Armor-Lux of Bretagne. http://www.armorlux.com/ (A bit sturdier than your picture maybe...)

    European Summer

Excellent advice from J H&M and Zara are your friends, as are Esprit and Benneton if you're willing to go one price point higher. In some parts of Europe, laudromats are hard to come by. (Not quite sure why I'm writing this but it seems related). You will also note that styles differ quite a...

    Why no green

I have been wondering for a long time why green (in all its shades) is less accepted than blue (and even pink/red) for formal menswear and accessories. I have a light tan complexion and green eyes, and I think green would suit me quite well (light green for shirtings for example). A very...

    Preference on Trouser cuffs?

I prefer to have cuffs on my trousers in general. As I am quite tall and have long legs, I usually need them a bit bigger than standard. This is sometimes hard to achieve since even the longest trousers have too little extra fabric. I don't do them when the pattern contradicts, even for a...

    Black Pin-Striped Suit paired w/ ?

I know the problem - 2 of the suits i bought in Hong Kong are black pinstripes (I wish I'd discovered this forum before) and they seem rather inflexible. You didn't say what color the stripes are, though. My suits are one orange (quite bright) and one green (much more subdued). Short of an...

    Tie Bars

But these things look horrible! I quite agree. Less horrible than a bar, though! Is the tie pin supposed to traverse your tie? Yep. Better get a knitted tie, then :-) or always tie it exactly the same so that the hole is always in the same place. How do you use a tie tack? Pin through tie...
