Looking for feedback on new men’s shoe brand

Hey everybody. I’m a long time SF member (since 2004!) but haven’t been active for a while. I’m considering an investment in a new direct-to-consumer men’s shoe brand. The style is pretty unique (neither a casual sneaker nor a traditional men’s dress shoe). I’m not the target demographic and...

San Francisco SF Meetup - Thursday September 12th , Label King Returns, Hosted by Proper Suit.

Today was actually a bit muggy during the day -- not great tweed weather. Cooler in the evening, though.

Live in the neighborhood, so no excuse for not attending. Thanks for organizing Gus. Leopold's is a great pick.

San Francisco SF Meetup- Thursday April 4th - Beckett & Robb

I had no idea there were real people behind these internet handles and avatars. Pretty cool. Thanks to Gus for organizing, B&R for hosting, and everyone who came out for the camaraderie. Looking forward to the next one. Also, the B&R stuff looks excellent in person.

    Bangkok tailors question

Following up on my earlier post -- I went with Kiet at Milan Suit for a shirt and pair of trousers. I had a Jantzen shirt and pair of TaT trousers for him to copy. I went in on a Sunday and he had the items ready by Monday evening. Quality of workmanship was quite good, though the fabric I...

    Bangkok tailors question

Thanks for the quick replies. I had seen the lonely planet post and agree that it's a good one. Not having spent much time in Bangkok previously, my main question is how likely it is that any of these tailors will be open on a Sunday. Narin was the only one I found a website for, and they are...

    Bangkok tailors question

I'm going to be visiting Bangkok shortly and wanted to try out one of the local tailors while there. I will only be in town for a couple of days, and so am thinking more in terms of a pair of trousers and a shirt rather than a suit. Based on this forum and other websites, Narin Couture looks...

Orphaned suit jacket from STP -- keep or return?

Good advice bigbris1. Though isn't there an old saying "A blazer with the wrong buttons in the hand is worth two blazers with the right buttons in the bush"? Will swing by tailor and button store today. Want the blazer for a trip next week, so will probably keep.

Orphaned suit jacket from STP -- keep or return?

I recently ordered this "Blazer" from STP: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/,...a-For-Men.htmlhttp://www.sierratradingpost.com/p/,...a-For-Men.html I got it for $158 after discounts w/ free shipping. Pretty good deal. It's a nice light weight, which is exactly what I was looking for, and...

    Thick as Thieves ONLINE

Hey Jason. I'm thinking about getting a lightweight suit for summer and trips to warmer parts of the world. Can you do an unlined (quarter lined) suit jacket?

    Thick as Thieves ONLINE

I third (or fourth or whatever we're up to) the notion of a SF trip, though I'm not sure I can wait that long to place my next order!

Traveling with suits, dress shirts, slacks, etc.

How does the Jiffy travel steamer compare to a full size steamer? My wife wants to get rid of my full size steamer (takes up too much space) and I'm curious if the Jiffy might be a viable replacement -- particularly considering that I rarely use the full size steamer.

    The Perfect Navy Blazer?

I won't go so far as to call it the perfect navy blazer, but I got a very nice one from Thick As Thieves. 12 oz midnight flannel, double vents, two button, besom pockets, horn buttons. Fits like a glove. Without meaning to, I end up wearing almost every day of the week.

    Life and death of socks

I've got about 10 pair of Lands End wool over-the-calf dress socks. I really like them with one big exception -- they've all got holes in the toes! I've had them for less than 1 year, and they actually started developing holes about 6 months ago. At this point, I don't think there's a sock...

    Dyeing a leather wallet

I've been looking for a wallet/agenda for some time. I have some specific preferences in terms of size and functionality, so my options are fairly limited. I recently found a wallet from Levenger that I think will work. The problem is that I want dark brown, and they only have black or tan...
