    DC Area Tailors:

I live in DC but tend to head out to Sun's at Tyson's Galleria for the stuff I don't trust to the local drycleaner. I have heard great things about Field's, though, the idea of driving and parking over there in Georgetown just makes my head hurt. Sun's gives me an excuse to drop stuff off at...

    Anyone tried Bonobos.com?

I have a few pairs - cords in a few colors, and a couple of wools in grey and brown. Their light cords are really light, which is nice for DC warmer days. I've been quite happy with the fit and quality, and their customer service is pretty amazing.

    Sperry vs Quoddy

That was not meant in a pejorative way btw. All brands need their cows and I'm a cow for some of them... Not taken that way at all, no worries... I had just ordered the navy/brick bluchers immediately before reading the thread - so I had to actually moo when I saw the post - I moo because it's...

    is a good watch necessary?

I wore a watch for years and pretty much abandoned them when the cell phone first came into widespread use. Recently, though, I've discovered how much I hate the appearance of cell phones at the table while eating out, and I've discovered the need to unobtrusively check the time while in a...

    Offensive compliments!

I have been known to say "Oh what a nice suit (tie/pair of shoes/jacket/whatever). Did you make it? For some kind of class project or something?" I limit that to friends, however. I think one of the best ever was from Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Nice dress. Glad you've seen the softer side of...

    favorite stores in Washington, DC?

Shoes are easier than clothes in my opinion; SkyValet and Alden are where I have gotten most of my post-SF shoes. As for clothing, I tend to head to one of two places: 1. The Buyers and Sellers forum here on styleforum, and 2. Union Station to catch the Acela to NYC. I have had such a...

    Alden prices going up

A good theory, but I'd already bought them when he mentioned it. By the way, in response to an earlier poster, I've found the sales assistants in the San Francisco store to be knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful, and the store seems to be well-stocked (at least in the cordovan models). The DC...
