"Casual" sport coat vs. "business" suit jacket

I've seen a lot of guys dressing down sport coats/jackets when out socially. Jacket, plain black shirt, jeans, with dress or more casual shoes. I like the look, but don't know how to figure out the jacket part. My suits are very business. Bespoke, well-fitted, but don't seem right for...

Best shoes with jeans and dress shirt??

Thanks. Difficult to find lace, black, suede shoes. Anybody have thoughts on which color in a suede looks best with dark navy jeans? Grey, maybe?

Best shoes with jeans and dress shirt??

I feel like my business suit shoes are a bit too dressy for the weekend outfit. The more smart casual look I'm referring to might not be a dress shirt... could be a plain shirt and jacket or something like that. Regardless, definitely more casual than my usual suit. I tried the whole chucks...

How to turn a business suit into a casual suit?? What color shirt and shoes?

Going out socially, it is usually nice jeans/shoes, some sort of mix of button down shirt and another layer, or whatever. It looks good and works. But... going to a nice evening event this weekend, and most everybody will have a sport jacket on or wear a suit without a tie. Any pointers on...

When do you keep your jacket buttoned?

1 1/2 years later, still uncomfortable to walk around with it buttoned. Not sure why. In my head, it feels weird so I think it looks weird.

Expensive Suits -- Are you scared of the dry cleaners??

Thanks for the recommendation in AZ. I'm in L.A., so the Bay Area is a bit far. But, it's good to know there are local specialty cleaners. I'll just have to look for them. Glad to hear there are alternatives.

Expensive Suits -- Are you scared of the dry cleaners??

For most of my professional life, I've worn $300-500 off-the-rack. No issue with taking them to the local dry cleaner. In the last year, I've started upgrading my wardrobe and spending a bit more money on my shirts and suits. Now, I am worried about the cleaning process. I am about to...

When taking measurements for MTM shirts..... shirt or no shirt?

I usually wear an undershirt below my dress shirt. When taking measurements for a MTM shirt, should I wear both the undershirt and dress shirt, or no shirt at all? I'm thinking a shirt or any fabric may skew the length of the yoke or armhole... or some other measurement. Thoughts? Thanks!

Off-the-rack vs. MTM -- Dress Shirts

Thanks for suggesting Luxire. I'm going to roll the dice with them.

Off-the-rack vs. MTM -- Dress Shirts

Thanks for the heads up on these various retailers. My budget, however, is around the price point I stated before. ~$70 after alterations. Van Heusen...Beene... those are cheap and what I wore when I couldn't afford much else. Ross and Marshalls always had those shirts at about $10 each...

Off-the-rack vs. MTM -- Dress Shirts

If comparing a Brooks Brothers/David Donahue/Boss/John W. Nordstrom dress shirt to a $50-70 MTM (100% cotton... not poly blend) dress shirt, which would you consider "better"? My predicament is this... I currently buy OTR better-than-average brands and have them tailored. Darts... not...

~$50 dress shirt for warmer weather?

Upgrading my wardrobe from Alfani, Geoffrey Beene, etc..... to.... nicer clothing. I live in Southern CA, and it tends to be warm year-round. Thicker shirts plus a suit... unpleasant. After quite a bit reading on the forums here, I've learned that TM Lewin and Charles Tyrwhitt are well...

When do you keep your jacket buttoned?

Interesting perspectives. I'd like to get in the habit of always having it buttoned when walking. Feels a little awkward at times, though. I was always told never to sit with your jacket on. Pressed against back of seat, sitting on the tail, etc.

When do you keep your jacket buttoned?

Thought about this earlier today... and wanted to ask the forum... When do you button your jacket? Whenever you have it on and are walking around? Only during important "walk-ins" (meeting, cocktail hour, etc)? I'd like to notice (and have others notice) a nicely tailored suit.... and I...

How many times do you wear a dress shirt before it goes to the cleaners??

+100 - amazes me that this Q comes up Almost as amazed that many people on here have a different opinion than you?

How many times do you wear a dress shirt before it goes to the cleaners??

So... the reason I ask is sometimes I get lazy and don't want to steam/iron my shirts to wear a second time-- even though they are still clean after I wore it once. And sometimes, I will simply take them all to the cleaners where they come back nice and crisp again. Do you get in the habit of...
