Any thoughts about this Ralph Lauren navy blazer?

Blazers (which have metal buttons) are a bit more versital, in my opinion, than sports coats. Blazers can be much more easily dressed down and up; jeans for clubbing jeans + metal buttoned navy blazer at a club (or anywhere, for that matter) = dorky.

Indeed I'm a little curious about what he does for a living (is it known?)

Critique my first bespoke suit, what do you think?

Inadequate waist suppression, buttoning point too high, jacket much too short. Nice colour.

Beseiged Autocrat style (Mubarak tailor query)

You mean the lapels on the shorter man, right? I think you are correct, I have seen that lapel style referred to as the Parisian lapel. I like it.....

Please criticise this RTW double breasted blazer

If you only can have one jacket, a navy blazer with out question is it. absolutely.

Please criticise this RTW double breasted blazer

First of all, you can completely ignore the absurd comment about navy being a bad color for a blazer, 99% of all blazers are solid navy. The brilliance and usefulness of navy as a color for an odd jacket is that it is easy to coordinate the jacket with other colors and patterns in your trousers...

    reducing tie width?

Robert Talbott ties are very nice and perhaps they could remake one of their ties for you as a courtesy at a small charge? I am not intending to comment on Tiecrafters - instead I am commenting on all alterations shops when it comes to ties. Although I have spoken to Andy the owner in the past...

    reducing tie width?

Lightsaber, I do not consider any alterations companies qualified to work on a luxury tie but that is based on the standard of a luxury tie. To buy a tie with plans of altering it simply does not make sense to me except for very unusual situations/designs. Alterations staff work fast and cut...

How many yards of seersucker do I need for a suit

Thanks Manton and niidawg. Why on earth would that be the case? Unless maybe you wanted to self-line the whole jacket... I don't know, some types of tweed need double the amount right? Something to do with the type of loom the cloth is made from? I just wanted to check that seersucker is not...

    reducing tie width?

If you see a Robert Talbott design that you love in a store talk to the store about their special order abilities. Probably if the design is from the current year you can order it for little or no charge in the width and length that you like. Keep in mind that this is a made-to-measure tie not a...

How many yards of seersucker do I need for a suit

A positive integer's worth. I'm partly asking because I gather that 44" is a non-standard width for cloth...

How many yards of seersucker do I need for a suit

The cloth seller is selling it at 44" by the yard. Also, do I need to double the cloth for seersucker? I heard something about that... but I don't know. thanks in advance

As promised, pictures of my outfits

Au contraire. A well tailored suit can feel just as comfortable as a pair of pajamas. Especially if said suit is worn with braces instead of a belt. Ah, but I didn't say it can't be as comfortable, just that the sensation is not the same. And as it happens, I already agreed about the braces...

Rules for Sweaters or Sweater Vests With Business Suits

Anyone who takes off their tie anytime they get cold & require a sweater is a masochist. If you want to talk about how lapels or collars or underpants are just societal conventions then there are other fora where you will find easy validation. No dice. Unless the crew-neck completely conceals...
