Moved to Northern Virginia, Recs for tailor?
I heard about Fields and called for prices....all I can say is Holy Crap he's expensive. I wanted to get a sportcoat tailored and he wanted $60 to shorten sleeves and $20 per button. Department Store Tailors - Saks or NM
I have worked in high-end mens stores, and there are some good tailors in house. The problem is the volume of work they have to complete. They are expected to run around the store all day and take quick measurements, while at the same time tailor garments. They are under serious time constraints...- Jacksdad

If your in the DC area, almost all of the SAKS off fifth outlets have had ISAIA suits. Most are navy solids or navy pinstripe. I think they are running about $1100 per suit. Also, Saks Chevy is still having their sale. As of a few days ago they had some nice suits available at about 70% off.- Jacksdad

I recognize that coat as Loro Piana. I have one that's very similar. I'm 32 and my wife hasn't commented one way or the other on it. As a whole Loro Piana doesn't seem to target a younger buyer.- Jacksdad

Golf Apparel Question
Look into Dunning golf wear. Guys like Zach Johnson are wearing it on tour. These garments have more of a tailored look and they do offer made to measure pieces. They also have some of the best fabrics, but they are pricey. I spoke to their rep a few months back and they will be in a lot more...- Jacksdad

Is Saks 5th Ave better than Neiman Marcus?
I hate the fact that Neimans puts a special label on their clothing; i.e. Borrelli for NM and they charge more for it than the same shirt at Saks. They may have more exclusive stuff, but I will 9 times out of 10 shop Saks because of the price difference.- Jacksdad

Fit of Costco shoe trees
I use the Costco trees in my 10.5's and they are just barely long enough to do the job, although the high vamp helps a lot. I'd say their sweet spot is a 9.5-10. Exactly.
