I have hard time telling camel from oxhide and elephant -). The only exotic leather I can ID with a certainty is kudu and maybe "fighting seal" (though is this case I might confuse it with "shark"). I love Dack's for actually marking the materials on the insole.

Today's pick. Almost pristine Florsheim (McHale??) made in Canada. For the leather I would guess camel.

Darn, I would've jerked the price up if I new -)) LOL. I had my suspicions but the model # was absolutelly unreadable so I played it safe. In any case, I am happy they found a new home and are in good hands -)). Hm, now you made me wonder if the pair of Hanover saddle shoes I have - not for sale...

That makes sense. I was quite confused how could Dacks & Brown manufacture shoes together... A bit unfair by Florsheim not to mark them as made in India. I could've missed it though.

Just an interesting pair I saw this weekend. I didn't pick it up - have enough bluchers for a lifetime and the outsoles felt a bit soft even being double ones. Uppers though were nice, of a very soft pliable leather, thick too (like some expensive leather jackets almost). Never seen a sole stamp...

This are just beautiful and NOS - never picked Dack's in such a condition :-). Might be glued/cemented, the insole is so tightly attached that I couldn't check for Blake stitching.

Can somebody please help to ID this pair? Love the shape and they fit me great but there's no marking of the manufacturer...

Hi, Could somebody please help to ID this par? Fits me great. I could not left them behind but the only stamp on the insole - besides the size - is "A&N Fine leather Special"...

That's must be why I could get my feet in - the length is good but they feel too tight because they are too narrow. Thank you!!!

It sure fills like 9E. That's the marking, I can't make anything out of it:

Wow, I though it was some kind of a buffalo or something simple :-) ... Size is unfortunately for me is 9. I managed to squeeze in mine 9.5 but it's too tight. So they are for cleaning and selling.

Nothing really special but I thrifted these Dack's for $6 so it made me happy. Can somebody help me out with what kind of a leather this is (I am a sucker for exotic ones :))?

Merry Christmas!! Not much can be seen on the soles because a previous owner had put very thick rubber covers on them (very practical thought and the did keep the soles in good condition). Size is apparently 9H - they fit me perfectly even though I usually can wear shoes in a range of 9.5...

Got lucky thrifting today - picked this pair of "Fighting Seal" shoes in almost perfect condition. Stamped as Alan McAfee shoes for Edward Chapman LTD Vancouver BC. Must be quire rare. Straight from the shelf here: And Slater shoes in unsanded camel (??). These took me a while to clean up and...

My fist day in beautiful Paramount shoes. Still don't know what they are. I am still betting on Cheaney made for a defunct brand. Though the side stamp is quite different. ..

A couple of pairs thrifted today - finally!!! was like months. First pair is in a great shape and appears to be Cheaney for Eaton's Sanitized Royal Sceptre. The second one is heavily used/ loved of Custom Grade Paramount Shoes (hardly readable on the insole). Never heard of paramount? They look...

Love these! Water bison in brown is really fantastic. I recently thrifted a pair (NOT my size :-( ) and would agree with you - this leather can take a beating.
