    Des Merrion status or whereabouts?

You know all those kids stabbing each other? How'd you like it if they we're spraying tech 9 fire instead. That's what guns bring to your country. And once the cat is out of the bag there is no putting it back But if you shoot the cat first . . . .

    The King's Speech

The collars are much better in the stills than they are in the film itself. Maybe someone pulled them down. Perhaps Geoffrey Rush's suits are supposed to fit badly, though they mostly do so only around the collar. The fit on the Duke of York, or worse on the Prince of Wales/Edward VIII, is...

Which shoes to wear with brown suit?

I wore a slightly darker brown suit yesterday with a white shirt, charcoal cashmere tie and black belt and shoes. I thought it worked really well. I have also worn it with burgundy calf belt and shoes but didn't like it as much.

    I want your opinions!

First, are you really in Harlem or just a Jelly Roll Morton fan? 'Cause if you are in Harlem, you aren't far from some really great shops. The A train runs both ways. If not, and those are your best options, then buy a few pieces that are the best of what your shops have to offer and find a...

cost of suit jacket vs suit pants

Go to mytailor.com and you can see the prices of suits, jackets and trousers made from the same fabric. It's about 1/3 trousers, 2/3 jacket.

OCBD Shirts: Pocket or No Pocket Poll

What did Agnelli do? Anyone know if he had the pockets of his BB OCBDs removed or have them made without? Or did he just keep the pocket?

    Tips on revamping business wardrobe

I have had good experiences with mytailor.com. Not sure if they visit Toronto but I would be surprised if they didn't.

What collar bar size to get

I think the issue you are going to have is trying to wear a pin the collar of a spread collared shirt. I would recommend going with the smaller collar bar but buying a point or tennis collar shirt from BB to wear it with.

How fancy can I get at college before I get ostracized.

I think jeans, khakis and cords with odd jackets is as far as I would go for daily wear. I wore basically that through undergrad and law school. If your wardrobe allowed for casual suits, I would do that, but my wardrobe was far too small. I would avoid wearing pinstripes and cap toes to...

    court wer

Ask your brother's lawyer, or just dress the way your brother is going to dress. We usually tell clients to dress up like they are going to church. Just giving them instructions to dress up lead to a few dressing like they were going out clubbing. Wearing sequins or spandex to family court is...

    Secret to going sockless?

I go sockless fairly often, but (1) only with loafers of some sort and (2) never with new shoes. The first is because I don't like the look of oxfords without socks. It just looks wrong. The exception to this is white or dirty bucks. Maybe it's a Southern thing. The second caveat is because of...

    Mantoni Suit Advice

He has some explanation on his store site about why the names have changed. I do know that you can buy Baroni suits from suityourself.com for a lot more than Jeff sells them. I keep looking at his site but have not yet bought anything.

Pin Collar Dress Shirt - RTW

Most MTM shirt makers could make you a shirt with holes for the pin. I would recommend trying an inexpensive shirt first, just to make sure you like it. You might just order a standard size from Jantzen to try it.

Pin Collar Dress Shirt - RTW

If it's a pin with one sharp end, kind of like a safety pin, it goes with a regular point collar. Same with the sort that slide on. Only the collar bar, with a screwed on end, will need a shirt with pre-made holes. I, for one, really like collar pins, but then I hate wearing point collars...

8 Groomsmen - Need Suit Help!!!

Jeff is the merchant DBA Wizard of Aahs. He sells a number of brand names. I am sure he could send you a swatch. The Foof has a good point though. Why not just get everyone to wear solid navy suits. That way, those who like a Trad look could get 3 button jackets with flat front trousers. Others...

    Two Alden's... Two Questions

There are lots of people on the forum who love boots with suits. I never feel quite right but maybe you can pull it off. I dislike suede belts. I would go with a similar color in calf for the belt. I have a pair of suede boots about that color and a couple of pair of dark brown suede shoes, and...

    Charcoal = Navy?

See if your LS library has a copy of Starr and McCormick on jury selection. The original edition has some information, admittedly from the late 70s, on how different groups respond to different colors. IIRC, solid navy works well for everyone, unless you tend to come on too strong and need to...
