Thoughts on Elbow Patches (Sport Jackets)?

I would only add them out of necessity. And it's a dress down. For instance If you wear it with well worn cords and generally aim for that scruffy elegance, no problem.

    Asian fusion

Hi, I'm looking for a soft tailored sport jacket in linen with nehru collar and "Chinese buttoning" (knots). Any ideas?

Is the gap between Americans and Europeans too vast?

If we take this in a more general direction; i would argue that there has been (and perhaps still is) a quite active cross pollination of ideas and styles back and forth. You have the formal structured look from the Brits, the relaxed and carefree style of the Italians, and the ivy style form...

Is the gap between Americans and Europeans too vast?

Well there is always Drakes or Budd if you are looking for good OCBDs in Europe. I think they are quite common around here. Rarely worn with a suit though.

    Official Fountain Pen Aficionados Thread

I would recommend De Atramentis if you would like some water resistant permanent inks that does not clog your pen.

Belts with brass buckles - annoyingly difficult to find!

Rubato sells nice ones, but 2.5 cm wide

    Large metal watches with tailoring.

I agree on the thickness aspect. If the watch is big enough, so that it partly can be seen during normal wear (i.e. without hiking up the sleeves and cuffs), it's imperative that it is thin. Otherwise it just looks too unbalanced in my eyes. I prefer that no part is visible. A thin tank style...

    Large metal watches with tailoring.

What else is there to hope for, really? On a tangent; I was happy to see Rolex Explorer, one of my favorites, returning to 36mm for this year. Hopefully it’s a trend.

    Large metal watches with tailoring.

It’s just a thread with a poll. I started it and stated my opinion that’s all. And, frankly, I doubt very much that it’s just my opinion. Wearing a watch with evening dress, for instance, has been frowned upon since the dawn of modern menswear. Let alone a chunky sport watch. Are you really...

    Large metal watches with tailoring.

Well you know, there is a discussion on this forum about wearing sneakers with tailoring. If that is worth it's own thread then surely this is. But maybe you are right and there is nothing more to say, then we shall soon find out as people will stop posting. And to be honest, most people...

Sneakers With Tailoring: Yes, No, Maybe?

I don’t agree with DWW on everything. I mean I think that traditional oxfords with tailoring is fine. Not just with suits. But the chino oxford look is hard to pull off and, in reality, just shouldn’t be attempted. And in general, the item centric purchase culture is extremely inelegant and...

Terribly sorry. That was quite a bit rude of me actually. I’m sure you look great wearing your sport watches with your wonderful clothing. It’s just when I read the “Because I can.” line. The imagery of sandals in restaurants and green oxfords etc came to me.

Santos with leather band is an ok dress watch at 38mm. Still too chunky in my book.

In my experience metal band watches all have a tendency to slip down. Then you get that very unpleasant situation were part of the watch is visible beneath the cuff. It’s easier to tighten a small leather strapped watch so that it sits were it should, above the wrist bone.

    So I’m 40…and MORE CASUAL? That’s 2021?

Slippery slope. But my advice is. Never buy really casual clothes like sweatpants, hoodies etc. A pair of roomy cords are comfy enough. Never buy sport clothes that look good enough to wear outside of sports.
