Vintage Dress shoe appreciation, tips, maintenance and advice

Oxfords from 1950. Made for the Maurice L Rothschild emporium. Absolutely gorgeous, though I need to find a restorer if i want to continue wearing them.

Now THOSE look like glorified joggers

I'm not suggesting those details are necessary, I just dislike anything too jogger-esque, joys of growing up bullied by jogger clad chavs.

For some reason these feel like jogging bottoms in a way the anthology's don't. I think they need the slightly more sartorial details of a pleat and crease to stop them looking like pyjamas.

It's a drapey rather louche take on CM, but I'm really digging adret at the moment, unfortunately their stuff is out of my budget, but I am considering commissioning a slightly roomier fit linen DB, inspired by their cardi-jacket. Really loving the new anthology RTW too, definitely need every...

These are really nice, I'm very interested in the ones that permanent style is doing with, I think luca avitabile?

Thankfully my partner has yet to make that connection, but it's definitely something I'll see now. Thanks for that ?

Of the options, navy, but I prefer olive green myself, I own a fair bit of green casual stuff.

I have an overcoat from 1936ish that has flapped patch pockets, I like them aaesthetically, but I think I agree on hand warmer being preferred.

I'm not so keen, but then my taste is very much Anglo-Ivy, I don't suit the Italian stuff. Open patch isn't something I've seen on an overcoat before

I completely, I think of them more like a short sleeve crew neck sweater.

I was the same, but I will say, the anthology's knitted t-shirts have changed my views on that, I wear them pretty casually, if I didn't run so hot I'd wear tailoring in summer, even in fresco I'm sweating.

90s. Yeah A&S quoted almost 2k, and they weren't doing anything special alteration wise, so I'll be going to my usual alteration tailor, she trained with Steven Hitchcock, so I'm confident she can preserve the drape.

    The myth of declining quality

This is a very interesting thread. I have a few vintage pieces and others that are just shy of recent. In the case of proper vintage, like a 60s makers sport coat and a 50s Burberry's balmacaan, I feel there is a definite difference in quality from their companies current output, but from what...

HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014)

I definitely agree with loafers and summer suits! I'll wear loafers with anything but businesses suits, though I'd probably go for a patent oxford over a pump so I guess with anything but businesses or formal wear

Nice jacket, not a fan of the slim trousers myself but the overall look is good. Love a good pair of suede loafers.

The Anderson & Sheppard Expatriates Thread

Can anyone reccomend a tailor in London who can alter vintage A&S and preserve the drape properly? If they're that expensive for just the waist I'll be paying almost as much as bespoke since I have three vintage suits that need repair.
