A Sam (and David) Hober Tie Appreciation Thread

Another macclesfield - I got it as the staple for grey suits and white shirts. Should have grabbed one like this a LONG time ago Zoomed out: Link:https://www.samhober.com/neckties/macclesfield/macclesfield-print-silk-ties/macclesfield-printed-silk-tie-mct-562.html

Another new macclesfield. I’m color-blind and wanted to try something “purple,” because it’s a color I just don’t understand. I got this “dark fuchsia” from hober that ended up a lot redder than I thought. I still really like it, but decided I also want to add a more true deep purple later on...

Just got this one the other day. Go easy on me for the terrible collar creases please. https://www.samhober.com/neckties/macclesfield/macclesfield-print-silk-ties/red-black-and-brown-on-slate-blue-macclesfield-print-silk-tie-245.html So glad you posted this. This one is on my list and looks...

SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread

I can see your point. I do like to wear ties though. A navy knit would match the formality better. I don’t currently have a white polo, but I think that would make for a good pairing with this jacket as well.

I have it. It’s actually darker than it seems, so you can pull of really light blue shirts. It is tricky to pair especially with the yellow overcheck, but I really like it. Here are a couple things I’ve done. Sorry for the corny coffee shots:

    RTW Trousers w/ braces buttons

Hello All, My brother is set to get married and we are beginning to plan groomsmen outfits. He would like us all to wear suspenders/braces. He’s not sartorially inclined, so I showed him a few photos of button-on braces and he agrees they look better than cheap clip-ons. We would like to find...

Wow thank you for going through the site and finding those. I think the first one you posted is the winner (Pangbournian)

I agree some white would be ideal, though I will say the fight song says “bear down red and blue,” with no mention of white... Being located in AZ here, anyone would catch my reference with any of the original 4. I couldn’t quite find one with white other than the one from stro’s post.

I was wondering about that one! Just wasn’t sure if the burgundy was close enough to UA red

I went to the University of Arizona and am looking to get a Hober stripe as a tribute. I’m interested in opinions from the group on which one you would go with. School logo for reference: Here are the ones I caught with my eye that I’m debating on...

Hey Rick, SEO thing- I’m getting 400 errors for every indexed link off of Google’s SERP except the home page. Do you have someone who can setup redirects for your old links? Example: if I search “spier mackay sportcoats,” Google has your extensions indexed as /shop/apparrel/sportcoats.html new...

I would definitely wear it with more casual ties: repp stripes, knits, shantung, even neats in more casual colors. I’d wear it with the shirt you mention at the top of your post with a textured brown or burgundy tie in a heartbeat. It might look off with a more formal/business tie. Just my...

I’ve started to notice these creases in my SM poplins on the collar, right around where the tie neck passes through, that are really hard to get out even when I blast with steam and press flat. Any suggestions of things I might be overlooking? This is only happening to the poplins:

Doing my best Betelguese impersonation to try and grab some shots of my new chukkas. Styled with coffee chinos from SM (that have been through a few washes) and a polo from another vendor: Full Look: Sizing info for anyone who might find it useful:

IIRC, thing happened with the Aqua/Brown with the yellow overcheck that I got for a steal. Paired below with way too many other colors, but hey that’s quarantine for ya.

I personally prefer SM’s fine twill over poplin or royal twill. Easy to iron, never had a shrinking issue, and it doesn’t wear too formal that it looks weird with an odd jacket. The royal twills wear rather hot in the summer and I think can look to formal at times. Though I have to say, they...

I personally haven’t noticed any in the sleeves. This shirt has had 2 cold washes/hang dry. My tailor says I’m really a 35.5 so I order 36’s and if anything they shrink to the right length. Sorry maybe not the most helpful!
