The School Fees We Pay - Mistakes We Make Finding Our Taste

This thread has also been in my head lately as I get rid of even more past purchases as we're significantly downsizing our housing situation soon. I tossed (donated) 4 pairs of Brooks Brothers trousers that I got on sale several years ago. Originally around $200 I paid $30 something for each. I...

The School Fees We Pay - Mistakes We Make Finding Our Taste

This is probably where I paid my heaviest fees. In the beginning I spent quite a bit of money on CM, grey trousers and blue blazers and navy suits and black oxfords (granted most of these were on sale or thrift finds). I ended up spending a large amount of time trying to find places I could wear...

The School Fees We Pay - Mistakes We Make Finding Our Taste

Agreed, high rise and pleats make the bit of extra I have around the middle seemingly disappear. High rise with no pleats always looked a bit odd though.

Thanks I put in an order with the request in the notes.

The School Fees We Pay - Mistakes We Make Finding Our Taste

I definitely agree with this. I've been into my menswear journey for only about 6 or 7 years now, and when I first got into clothing I definitely spent quite a bit of money on way too skinny, skin tight clothing, that just doesn't look good on my body (6'3"/1.9m, 200lb/90kg). I had the money to...

Luxire Custom Clothing - Official Affiliate Thread

@luxire is it possible to adjust the size of belt loops? I want to switch over to Hollywood style waistbands, but the belt loops are just the tiniest bit too small (like 1 extra cm would be fine). The belt loops in my normal waistband pants are just fine.

How do you deal with pit stains?

Just wanted to come back to this and say that everyone's help was much appreciated, I now have bright white shirts again. To those asking, I do wear undershirts (Uniqlo Airism but I've started slowly switching over to wool undershirts), and I don't have my shirts made nearly as tight as many...

How do you deal with pit stains?

I've been at the point of holding the razor up to my pits several times over the past couple years, but each time I decide to ask the wife and she is against it. It may just be time to give it a shot. Especially if it keeps my shirts decent longer.

How do you deal with pit stains?

Also, are these not significantly warmer than a light undershirt? I've basically been relegated to either wool ($$$) or the Uniqlo super lightweight undershirts. I live in the south so anytime between April and October I usually have some sort of underarm sweat all the time, it's just impossible...

How do you deal with pit stains?

I usually have to use Shout on the underarms every time I wash. It seems like it builds up if I don't use Shout everytime and takes more washes to get rid of it. I'll try pre-soaking and see how that works. Thanks

How do you deal with pit stains?

I have a problem where all my white shirts are stained under the arms. It's not yellow like aluminum staining, as I don't wear aluminum based deoderants. All my shirts just look a bit grungy under the arms. I bathe at least once a day (before putting on my clothes), washing machine gets cleaned...

    Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

I'm currently at 15 weeks on one pair and 5 weeks on another. No word about either yet. My first order took 6 weeks (mid 2012) and that was during their busy season lol.

    Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

IMO no. The 100 does not offer any appreciable insulation or cushion over any other sole. The 100H does offer much better cushion and harder surface traction, but it wears much quicker (my original SJ's were resoled after 5 years with a 100F sole, and they need a resole now after 2ish years with...

    Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

I've realized that 'impact resistance' comes from extra thick socks so I always wear the thickest wool socks I can find (usually Duluth) and the support comes from the leather in the boot. The only thing I would do differently is a composite toe instead of steel, my toes are cold EVERY morning...

    Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

I've been ordering and wearing White's for about 10 years now. Worked as an electric utility electrician for 7 years and I've only ever ordered single midsole with 100H sole. I was mainly on gravel and concrete all day but also spent quite a bit of time on ladders and hooks during storm work...

SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread

This is the real issue here. I'm 6' 3" and wear a 38 with 30.5" inseam. I really need a front rise close to 14" to get comfortably to my actual waist and to not feel like my nads are in a vise. I'm sure we are a minority, but an "Extra High Rise" sure would be nice. Edit: I would also...

SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread

I agree with this. I stopped buying S&M pants because their high rise isn't high enough. Would come back if there was another inch added to the high rise at least. Looking for 13.5" + on a size 38. Only other choice is to spend double.

Luxire Custom Clothing - Official Affiliate Thread

@luxire : Would it be possible to have shirts made from fabrics in the pants category (specifically the washable wools, and some of the heavier linens) or is that unfeasible or won't work properly?

SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread

I'll be readying my bank account... If it's mainly thick flannel I'll definitely purchase a couple. If you have some plain woven, open weave wools I'll be in for many more...
