Paul Sargent (formerly Alfred Sargent) Appreciation Thread

I haven't posted in ages and got married in the meantime. It took me a while to decide which shoes to get for the wedding and at the end I chose the Paul Sargent Moore: Very happy with the choice!

If you can only have 4 pairs of shoes for life, what Brand and Type of shoe are you having?

I would own: 1- A very casual derby - Tricker's Bourton 2- A country boot - CJ Coniston/Galway or Tricker's Stow 3- An ankle boot - CJ Chelsea 8 or CJ Chukka (upton?) 4 A pair of oxfords - CJ Malton / Connaugh I feel the need for a 5th pair, a sleeker derby for smart casual outfits.

Offical TRICKERS shoes and boots thread

After a year without buying any shoes, quite unexpectedly I got my first pair of Tricker's. Is there a better way to start this journey than a pair of Bourton in acorn? I went for a first walk yesterday, they feel like absolute tanks, might take a while to break them in!

I wasn't thinking about your post in particular or even this brand in particular :)

    Zonkey Boot Appreciation Thread

I feel like most of the users on this forum and in particular those that follow and care about specific brands, are very forgiving. As an 'external' that doesn't know the brand, if not from following Nishant on Instagram and appreciating his amazing photography, I am surprised anyone can think...

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

Very nice shoes, for 99£ it's incredible value! I have one pair from the legacy line (Laxford) and I am quite happy with it.

    The Bespoke Shoes Thread

Yeah I understand what you mean and I can partially agree. Surely these 'modern' HW brands tick all the boxes: handwelted, super thin waists, aggressive lasts, small tapered heels etc... but I still need to see a picture of a 5-10yo Chinese shoe that has been used, loved and resoled!

    The Bespoke Shoes Thread

Nothing against Chinese businesses but personally as a European I would rather buy an amazing GYW shoe from a shoemaker with an amazing legacy like Crockett and Jones and help this trade staying alive rather than buying online from the opposite side of the world. Just my 2 cents!

Please critique my suit in honesty

I agree with you when you say the sleeves are too long, they should be shortened by 1-2cm depending on your taste. That's a relatively easy fix, but it seems that the jacket is too large for you, around the shoulders, which is not something worth addressing. At the same time, the length seems to...

** Quintessential Crockett & Jones Thread ** (reviews, quality, etc...)

Crockett and Jones just published their AW20 collection: https://www.crockettandjones.com/collections/?collection=mens-new-season-collection I see some amazing additions! I love the Chelsea 8 in chestnut with the city sole and the handgrade chukkas

When is the winter collection coming out? I feel like it was at the beginning of September last year, I might be wrong though.

Boots Boots Boots - For Boot Guys Only

While I love SoH and own a few pairs, I wouldn't put it on par with Crockett and Jones main line. SoH has nice designs with unique material/pattern combinations but CJ's quality of materials, cut and the finesse of the lasts is on another level. Also the overall comfort of the shoes is not...

Which one would it be? For me the one most versatile shoe for the OP is a dark brown derby wingtip, like the C&J Swansea.

Yes it is possible to shop online, on eBay you can find some and on this forum as well. It would be ideal to do it in person to try the shoes and understand the defects. How severe the defect is, it depends on the brand and on on your luck. Some are barely noticeable, some others I wouldn't...

Hi Luke where are you based in England? If you are somewhere near, I suggest you go visit the Northampton factory shops and pick up some great seconds to start your shoes collection. They are amazing value.

Thanks for the advice. Do you think the nano-protector would help against other liquids that might get on the shoes? I am thinking beer mostly  but might be soap as well (it happened to me once, when I was washing my hands a big drop of liquid soap fell on my cheap suede boots and...

** Quintessential Crockett & Jones Thread ** (reviews, quality, etc...)

I wear them once a week, 4 months a year. This is their second summer, so I have probably wore them 25-30 times now. I don't like the idea of using a suede protector because I don't wear suede often and the idea of applying external agents on the shoe every month to protect them in the very...

** Quintessential Crockett & Jones Thread ** (reviews, quality, etc...)

I have the Sydney and I have been using them for a year now: I don't use them very often (4 months a year), but they are holding up incredibly well. As with all my suede pairs, I have never treated them with any kind of protectors. I just avoid wearing them when it rains.
