    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

Has anyone tried Loakes newest line of 1880's on the Minster last yet? and can compare it with the Capital last please. I am hoping for slightly more toe room / width, definitely not less. Any help appreciated.

    Carlos Santos Sizing?

Beautiful shoes. I really like the quality of the Carlos Santos shoes for the price, they are great value.

WOW, that's beautiful, what a difference.

It looks misaligned to me. That's one of the disadvantages of buying online versus fitting in a shop, you get what they send you.

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

"Disappointed to see that the suede anglesey appears to be discontinued and they’ve removed the outer eyelets on the leather version!" Oh yes, agree totally, why would they even do that.

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

I saw this too and wondered why. Loake must be demanding terms which are not suitable or profitable enough for the retailer. Shame but, oh well, there are plenty of other shoe makers out there.

The Quintessential Dress Shoe: Black Cap Toe Oxford

Depends on your budget. How much do you want to spend?

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

Ah, very nice job. I love a plain toecap, you can give it a high shine & it keeps separate from the crease zone.

The Quintessential Dress Shoe: Black Cap Toe Oxford

I've had no trouble shining the Loakes, they shine up well. Tried many brands of polish over the years and found Saphir creams & polishes my favourite. Black mirror gloss on these toes.

The Quintessential Dress Shoe: Black Cap Toe Oxford

I just created a new post for help with black derbies. It would be nice if you could post your CJ Bradfords there, thanks. https://www.styleforum.net/threads/plain-black-derby-favourites.638199/

    Plain Black Derby favourites.

Hello SF members, I am looking for good quality plain black derbies for work - captoe or plain toe, no brogues or patterns. Prefer dainite sole for traction on slippery surfaces. They may get the occasional splash of liquid so oxfords are not ideal.

The Quintessential Dress Shoe: Black Cap Toe Oxford

They look lovely suitforcourt. Derbies & bluchers are easier to get your foot into & more forgiving of wider feet. But there are far less offerings in a nice black captoe than oxfords.

The Quintessential Dress Shoe: Black Cap Toe Oxford

Can you give us an update on the Meermins please. I need a good inexpensive shoe for bar work. I am a 9.5 in the Loakes capital last.

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

Hanovers look very nice, interesting to see the difference between 1880's & Export Grade.

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

I didn't strip them back first as I was just going to do one coat, but getting uniformity proved difficult & more & more layers went on. BXpress - I agree you must apply thin layers quickly, no blobs. I use Saphir creams which sink into the leather fast so if you apply too thick & uneven you...

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

I also received a very light version of mahogany, nothing like the images on the net, more like tan. So I did my own patina work with some darker polishes which was a bit scary with brand new shoes, but it turned out okay. You can see the original colour on the inside corner of the tongue...

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

Not rude at all, it's a very sensible question. I am a mum buying shoes for my two boys, well men now. I chose the shoes, they chose the colours. Instead of the Chesters I chose some Carlos Santos Split toe derby and they are absolutely beautiful, so happy with them.

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

Seems Loake are making changes. I tried to buy Chesters in burgundy, no luck the colour is discontinued, what a shame. Then I chose Aldwych in brown dainite and same story, so I settled for the Aldwych mahogany, but I am not in love with this colour at all.
