What kind of men can wear bow ties gracefully on daily basis?

I bought my first bow tie about about 9 months ago after seeing a very well dressed guy pull one off at a conference in the South. I came back to Ohio and bought one I liked from my local Brooks Brothers. It took me a while to master tying it and some more time to muster up the guts to wear it...

Visiting Columbus, Ohio, what to see

Mac's Cafe is a good pub in the Short North. Marcella's a couple blocks down has pretty good Italian Food (the lamb gnocchi on a cold day if killer) If you like hats there is a store is Bexley called Hat and Sole, probably one of the best hat stores in the state. Jeffersonville outlets south...

best suit movie / suit movies top 10?

I'll give you one you don't hear everyday - "The Antichrist" with Mel Ferrer directed by Alberto De Martino. Meant to be a 70's Exorcist knockoff movie, turned out to be one of the worst movies ever made, but all the men are immaculately turned out. I have the DVD and watch is...

Attire for engineering internship/graduate school interview

Red - I second saiyar1's advice. Your "job" right now is to look good enough to get in the door with respect. You can worry about the fancy suits when you have the funds and experience to know what you like and what you will need. If I were you, I would take a trip to Filene's and...

Attire for engineering internship/graduate school interview

I am am engineering manager with a PhD in Engineering. My suggestion - wear a suit! I suggest a navy suit, white shirt, a decent tie, black oxford dress shoes. Do not listen to anyone who suggests you wear something less than that. An interview is an interview. And regardless what has...

Split Toe Shoe - Norwegian vs. Algonquin

I always thought they were the same - one name originating from the US and one from Europe.

    White Collared Dress Shirt

I think you can dress them down somewhat if you wear silk knots in the double cuffs. I know I will get pounded for this one but I once saw someone where a blue strip FC with white contrasting collars and cuffs and blue silk knots - with faded well fitting jeans and dark brown brogues. I was...

    Andrew's Ties

I like them. The quality is good for the price point. I bought three from the same store.

Where to buy brown check waistcoat?

Good luck, I have been looking for a waistcoat for a couple of months now. In EVERY men's store I have entered and asked, the response I get is "What is a waistcoat?" After explaining it to them, 50% of the time I get "No" the other 50% I get "I have been in menswear for [fill in years], I never...

I Finally place an Order with Pediwear, then I get this:

Bet you it's because the increased publicity after Wall Street II. I loved it when Gekko was in the C&J store ordering many pairs of shoes.

    Sweaters and Ties?

Macallan - how much of the tie shows when worn under a crew-neck? Always been curious about that one.

Opinions on Gieves and Hawkes Shoes

I saw one of the most beautiful pairs of shoes ever in the G&H store at #1. They were a beautiful brown plain toe with an "aged" look but not quite the "museum" look popular at the time (circa 2008). I do not recall the makers stamp. I do recall they were £ 600. They...

    Sweaters and Ties?

I do it all the time. But I do have a preferred style of sweater to wear with a tie. I prefer merino pullover sweaters with either quarter zip or button mock neck style. I like the way the neck wings frame the face. I usually wear a button down dress shirt underneath. I am not a fan of...

    Cost of functional buttonholes

I had functioning buttonholes put on a new Golden Fleece blazer. BB sent the jacket back to MGC in Brooklyn at a cost of $90. The holes were machine made and turned out looking cheap. In retrospect I would have either not bothered or found a tailor who would do hand made buttonholes.

    Opening hours on Jermyn Street

I don't remember when they open but I do recall that many stores closed quite early compared to what I was used to in the US.

I'm looking for a dress shoe that satisfies the following criteria...

    - Suit-approved - Brown ( Should go with black and most gray- and blue shades ) ) You may have a problem with this one - brown shoes really do not go with black at all imho.

how to fold a pocket square in this style?

Without a close-up of the pocket I really can't tell if it is a 3/4-point fold or an inverted puff. Can you try to find another picture from another site that has a close up of what you feel is something similar?

    New Omega but which strap?

If you want to go sartorial and want some ideas, check out ABP http://www.abp-paris.com/watchbands_...hp?rid=7&cid=1 90 Euros really is not bad for a custom made band if I could get exactly what I want. Have you ever actually ordered anything from them?
