Ask A Question, Get An Answer... - Post All Quick Questions Here (Classic menswear)

I was told the average people pay is around $800. I don't remember the name of their cuts but I asked to try on their most relaxed/least slim fit. My shoulders are narrow and my waist is wide. I'm also very short. Suit supply offers 2 MTM adjacent options. One where they take a suit they already...

Ask A Question, Get An Answer... - Post All Quick Questions Here (Classic menswear)

Looking for some suggestions for lower budget MTM sports coats in NYC. I was thinking about going with suit supply which starts at $650. My body shape is too far away from average to find a jacket that fits close enough where minor alterations will be enough.

Casual shirts for the short and portly man

I have one MTM shirt but it's too hot for it and it doesn't fit well. Most of my shirts are baggy in the shoulder and okay in the stomach. I wear only short sleeves now and the length is 3/4 the way to the elbow. Pretty wide on the arm.

Casual shirts for the short and portly man

With a blazer (to give a better idea on sizing) I'm somewhere between a kids 20 or extra large husky and a 38 short. The kids sizes are a little closer in length to what I need and are boxier Yeah, tailors can't take in the shoulder, or at least no sane tailor would. Was hoping there might be...

Casual shirts for the short and portly man

I haven't been able to find a brand that fits well. I tried Peter Manning in I think a 2x the length was too short, sleeves too long, shoulder too large and stomach was okay. I've tried Kamakura but the body way too tapered on everything. Gitman was too long and tapered.

Casual shirts for the short and portly man

Shirts that I've found fit in the shoulder and sleeve (excluding sleeve length) can barely be buttoned at the bottom in the best situation.

Casual shirts for the short and portly man

I'm in NYC. I went to the proper cloth hq to get measured. Drape does mostly depend on fabric thickness, yeah. But how something actually looks on me (due to how the fabric settles/moves/drapes) vs looking at a Swatch is very different. Being short I can't tell from a Swatch if a pattern is...

Casual shirts for the short and portly man

I've used proper cloth. They're stuff is okay. My biggest issue is that you can't exactly tell how a fabric is going to drape and the cut can look funky. What they made for me was just odd looking. Slim fit in the arms and a high cut arm hole but too large in the shoulder, chest, and stomach...

    RAW DENIM VIRGIN

How would you describe the cut of jeans you wear often (or the kind of cut you're looking for)? How would you describe your build?

Casual shirts for the short and portly man

I'm not seeing anything on their site that looks like what I'm thinking of (short sleeve, collared shirt, light weight). According to the size chart the smallest sports shirt would be too large on me.

Casual shirts for the short and portly man

I'm short and chubby so Tommy Bahama is far too large even in the smallest size. The sleeves go past my elbows and the shoulder seam hits around mid bicep. Tommy Bahama is slightly too casual or about even on the casual formal spectrum. Edit to add: their prints are too oversized for my size.

    Lightweight denim for big thighs

The Charles Atlas is a better cut for larger thighs but itsi not for everybody. How about Naked and Famous Weird Guy? They have an 8oz on sale, 11oz, and a 5oz chambray. If you're looking for something similar to left field in terms of quality and budget Sugar Cane has a model (can't remember...

Question about pants for shorter guys.

I know suits come in short sizes but haven't heard of trousers coming in short...and even a "short suit" will have an excessively long trouser.

Casual shirts for the short and portly man

I've been looking out for shirts that might fit my body well. I have a wider midsection (compared to my shoulders) and I'm very short. These two things combined make it really difficult for me to find a decent fitting casual shirt. Right now I'm on the look out for a camp shirt (or similar...

Question about pants for shorter guys.

I have a similar issue. I'm short and the rise of shorts never lines up right with my body. I know brands like peter manning cater to making clothes for shorter men and tend to have better proportions in the seat. Maybe that's a solution?

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

There's a place near me that's MTM (guessing it is MTM due to their pricing) who adjusts button stance. Could always contact a MTM place and ask for buttons "on the side" and no button holes.

The Tailors' Thread: Fit Feedback and Alteration Suggestions

This might sound weirx but is it possible when ordering MTM to request no buttons or button holes? This would give the option to correct the placement.
