Introducing D.C. Lewis Footwear - Affiliate Thread

I really like the handgrade wholecut oxford and I was wondering if you could answer some questions about them: 1) Can you add metal toe taps and if so, how much extra would that be? 2) Are hand lasted or semi-hand lasted shoe trees available right now and if so, how much extra is that? 3) Since...

What is the best value shoe maker you know?

A value brand that doesn't get much love here is Orban's. Around the same price if not cheaper than Meermin but there's not as many reviews as there are for Meermin. However, the reviews that are available are usually positive reviews. Here's a very recent one on the goodyearwelt subreddit:

    Cobbler Union - Bespoke-Inspired, Small-Batch, Luxury Men's Shoes - Official Affiliate Thread

If a local cobbler was to re-sole the shoe via goodyear welt, they would have to take off the beveled/fiddleback waist part of the sole as well correct? And if so, would they be able to remake the beveled/fiddleback waist again after applying a new sole?

RTW Adelaides: Alfred Sargent vs Antonio Mecariello

Interesting note about the width. No offense but I think creasing isn't really a good indication of quality or even fit for that matter (unless someone can explain otherwise). You can have great fit and good quality but the shoe could still crease like hell. Creasing would depend more on how you...

RTW Adelaides: Alfred Sargent vs Antonio Mecariello

Just a side note, those Antonio Meccariello adelaides are from thesabot.com and that website has really in depth instructions on how to figure out your size. It's pretty interesting, lots of measurements and math for you to do to figure out your size lol...

RTW Adelaides: Alfred Sargent vs Antonio Mecariello

If you could only choose one, which one would you get? Also, which one you think has the higher price:quality ratio? Moore by Alfred Sargent ($~575) Cauline by Antonio Meccariello (~$550)

buying oxford for the first time

You have to really define "best". If you're looking for a sleeker shoe, italian construction (aka Blake stitching) or Bologna is the way to go (doesn't mean you can't still get sleek shoes with a goodyear welt or hand welt, etc). But they're less durable and less water proof. A goodyear welted...

Johnston & Murphy vs New Republic Chelsea Suede

Happy to help! Story et Fall (SeF for short) is a company that makes very sleek boots like chelseas, jodhpurs, zipups, etc with great quality (they're either goodyear welted or blake stitched depending on which line you're looking at; I would go with the former), but at half the price or less...

Johnston & Murphy vs New Republic Chelsea Suede

So I decided to call Johnston & Murphy to ask them about the construction on their Garner Chelsea boot that you linked above, and interestingly enough, they said it's actually "glued" aka cement construction (despite having the stitching on the outside, prolly decoration?). Lol. So it's glued...

Johnston & Murphy vs New Republic Chelsea Suede

I would say the Johnston & Murphy one is higher quality. Both shoe descriptions say they're "welted" but I can't see any stitching on the outside for the New Republic one, which makes me think their crepe outsole is glued (cement construction), whereas I can see the stitching on the outside for...

Would you consider even these shoes to be too light for the navy suit?

    Who are these MTO people?

(sorry I tried posting the link as is but it kept changing to ebay for some reason; you have to click the "footwear" button in the middle to filter the results) Anyone know who these guys are? They seem to be some type of MTO company and they seem to produce some beautiful looking shoes (kinda...

Which brown shoe goes better with a navy suit?

I guess that would apply under the "setting" condition. Good to know thanks. What are your thoughts on burgundy vs dark brown for casual wear?

Which brown shoe goes better with a navy suit?

Would it make a difference if I said I already own a pair of black shoes Interesting....after doin some research, it turns out burgundy/oxblood IS more versatile than dark brown (can match it more with diff colors of trousers/suits). Burgundy and dark brown are both for less formal/casual...

Which brown shoe goes better with a navy suit?

Lol I would say that depends on the setting...for an interview yes but for most other occassions, brown (not light brown) shoes are fine

Which brown shoe goes better with a navy suit?

Shoe #1: Shoe #2: Is shoe #2 "too" dark of a brown for a navy suit? It almost looked black to me at first (especially in the last pic)
