From what I remember, it wasn't far off if not the same as the regular twill used at the time. I wouldn't have any hesitation to keeping one long term. Green was my favorite as the contrast with the leather was completely awesome....- GzStudio

I’d have zero issues modifying the bag to your liking. I’d prefer it as it really is a pain (to me) to unbuckle straps every time I want to get into it. I sometimes miss my gear- GzStudio

Obviously and error, but, economies of scale is at play here. Huge economies of scale. I can easily see the wholesale cost of this simple tote at $55. Cheaper materials help in this as they are certainly not picking the top of the top from their vendors.- GzStudio
