Teenager looking for classic menswear advice

I'd say remember that there is not, and never was, just one 'adult suit' style. In any given era there have always been distinct differences between suit styles for younger men, for middle-aged men and for older men. I mean, 18 year olds in the 1920's wore differently styled suit outfits to 50...

    A Proper Trench

I bought the Grenfell 'Windsor' trench coat two or so years ago and absolutely love it. I cannot recommend it highly enough, and some older British friends who owned Burberry's and Aquascutum's of the 60's through 90's have admired it several times as well. The Grenfell cloth (worth the extra)...

    Paralyzed by Choices

That‘s quite true, without doubt. It’s not for everyone, and not automatically better. But in this case I suggested it with thought, given the OP is a) in C-level management, and b) looking to wear it while mixing with people at the top of the business hierarchy (i.e. investors), and c) has...

    Paralyzed by Choices

With respect, if you're now in the C-Suite, and only buying one single suit (which is certainly enough for once-a-month wear), and going to be wearing it with people who you need to impress, may I suggest upping your budget a little and getting a bespoke (yet not massively expensive) garment...

    Tweed jackets that fit well/slim?

Hacking jackets are well fitted with a solid waist suppression, if you want a traditional look that shows off your enviable shape.

What fabrics are worth considering for my first ever bespoke suit?

Great! FWIW, I've found two things make the most noticeable differences to the final outcome of a bespoke suit. The first is the design of the lapels: how low or high the jacket buttons are placed, how wide the lapels are, how low or high the gorge (the notch in the lapel) is. Low gorges...

    Waistcoat for bespoke tuxedo

My tux, with U-shaped waistcoat, is coming back from my tailor on Saturday. I'll see if I can take some decent photos and you can decide for yourself if you like the shape. I find the U-shape looks very good. There's a reason it was the classic standard.

    Classic custom tuxedo specification advice

I had a very similar tuxedo made with the classic U-shaped vest as you are planning. Very few people have them these days and I do think they look very good when matched with a proper black tie marcella-fronted shirt. I get a lot of compliments on the outfit every time I wear it, which surprised...

    Custom Wedding Tux Advice

Brits often use 'grosgrain' on their lapels rather than satin. I think it looks better on larger men myself (with peak lapels - shawl would always be satin I would think). It's ribbed but still made from silk with an appropriate amount of shimmer/sparkle). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grosgrain

    Shirt and Tie Advice

It's certainly a notable piece. Does it fit your personal style? That's the most important question I think. Other considerations may also be 'Will my wife-to-be kill me if I wear this' and 'Will I be happy wearing this in my wedding photos in 20 years time?'. Also 'Will this fit with the...

    Matching suit and the rest

If it's a daytime wedding, then silver ties are quite traditional - not lame silver, more patterns of silver with small amounts of black to highlight. They can look very nice against a navy suit. See this thread or this retailer (as one example).

    Suits and bad weather

The Grenfell Windsor is an old-school, proper-length (for a trench-coat) DB trench with the option of a removable wool inner layer (called a 'warmer') that will keep your suit (and your) nice and safe and warm and dry. Excellent quality too.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

Can anyone point me to quality genuine camel hair coatings? I know H&S have one in their 'Classic Overcoats & Topcoats' book, are there any others? Any thoughts on who makes a better or worse such cloth?

What should I do with my Hair?

Ashley Weston has a number of videos on YouTube, several of which relate to choosing hair styles for men based on hair type/face shape etc. They're a good way to get an overview of the options that might suit you.

    White Shoes-Debate

In my country they have a particular connotation: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White-shoe_firm#Other_uses_of_the_term To this day the phrase 'white shoe brigade' is thrown around in the business press, usually in reference to property developers, and not in a good way.
