It's frustrating how nice burgundy can look with grey.

Nomad chukkas spice brown (dark walnut) sole-switched to the Itshide commando lug. Thrilled thrilled thrilled. I really like the way the black sole makes a parallel line to the contrasting natural welt. Truly casual, unapologetically loud for a Goodyear welt shoe. Reverse Hubbins!

Like a Park Ave? Depends on the walking. If you walk from carpet to the car and no more, you get years. If you walk two blocks on sidewalk, twice a week (they do say buy three shoes and alternate) you could do serious wear in a few months. Thing is, even rubber soles will visibly "show" wear...

Short answer yes, TL,DR They get spongy and springy long before really grinding down from tread wear. Problem with my (beloved) Tate chukkas is the insole is also Poron, so it's squishy rubber on dense poron foam underneath a firm glove leather insole. Too much squish, and it makes the leather...

I've done this look... with lugsoled chukka boots. It's context. I'm not in a profession with a business dress code. I just like wearing suits on Sunday. So switching up the shoes brings down the formality within reason. Sneakers? I wouldn't, but it can work. The whole outfit better be casual...

Shoenut, you trendsetting barn weasel! https://www.allenedmonds.com/shoes/shoes/tupelo-cap-toe-oxford/SF2910.html?dwvar_SF2910_color=2909#start=1 I know most will hate it. I like it, but I can't see buying it. Too many lugsoled boots that do the same job better. Dublin Stirling, anyone? Like...

I don't get it. Did you return the second new pair that was good quality and just end up with your $130 eBay seconds? If you kept both, there's nothing underhanded at all. You bought two new pairs of shoes for $360 or whatever. If you only kept the eBay seconds, then yeah it's not quite...

Decent Decent silicon-free waterproofed mostly for suede, but suitable for even calfskin in a pinch. Dont use too much on leather especially lighter colors, but since waterproofing clogs the pores. But this stuff wears off. On suede, you can use as much as you want, but the furry appearance of...

For something minor, I've taken those suede heel spacers, cut strips out of them with scissors, and applied the strip to the the inside of the heel. It grabs on to my ankle just enough to take the shoe from slippery to perfect. While the sticky does wear off, they all do anyway, and it doesn't...

Yeah, how does the brown Dublin hold up to rain/other stuff? I love my Stirlings, but I'm afraid to wear them.

511 is tight and short (in that the toebox begins to taper more severely and farther back) than the 65 or the Higgins. Higgins also has much, much more instep. I need TTS or even a half size big in 511. Unlined actually doesn't make a big difference, in my experience (Cronmok, Caen, Normandy)...

Bigger toe box at all costs...with caveats. If my big toe is anywhere near the front of the shoe, even rubbing the side where the toe box tapers a lot, like in the 511 last, my knees hurt. Same if my pinky toe is squished. Calfskin will never ever truly break in the way cheap sneakers do. A...

Thank you! I actually like the Driggs as a silhouette, especially as a blue suede derby. Fashion sneakers are great. Just not at $350 or $400 and imported, not MiUSA. Too many equal alternatives

I think the old reverse burnished brown strandmoks are a better match for the semibrogue Oxford designs, and light cognac as a color is nice for chukkas or plain toes. But the cognac leather is great in person, lightly tumbled instead of a coarse pebbling like grain MacNiels or Leeds. Not quite...

Kristen sold me my second pair of AE, a pebble Dundee two years ago when I realized there was an Allen Edmonds right next to my closest Whole Foods and I was still in my almond butter and black rice phase. Shopping with her and her crew has been exactly what shopping is supposed to be. A real...

I agree, no issue. Yeah, they're shell, but if you'd gone with Dainite those stitches would have been torn up in normal use anyhoo. Full disclosure, I don't own any shell and I can't bear the thought of spending so much on one pair.
