    The Look goes on...

@Man-of-Mystery , the (otherwise fairly terrible) Mostyn Mckenzie shop in Ocean Terminal usually has a selection of black Loake shoes, all factory seconds. I've seen the black Royal a few times there, though I think it's corrected grain and tends to look a little shiny.

Should I or shouldn't I buy... (clothing item)?

It's slightly bizarre (these observations come from someone not well-versed on shoes, only a few GYW English shoes, etc. etc.) - the box has the usual paraboot speil on french-made, over 100 hand operations, and so on - but the shoe itself is marked 'MADE IN SPAIN' - the upper is quite shiny...

Should I or shouldn't I buy... (clothing item)?

Thanks guys - in the end I actually went for them, since a sale meant they were <£100, far cheaper than comparable cole haan loafers (and much, much cheaper than Rancourt or even Bass here, annoyingly). Though, as @FrankCowperwood mentioned, the soles don't seem massively sturdy, and...

Should I or shouldn't I buy... (clothing item)?

They're not the most attractive shoe in the world, that's true, but their rubber sole and more rugged leather would be useful in my city, which is full of cobbles and rain. I'm not generally a fan of the cleaner/non-strap/belgian style that you like, unfortunately.

Should I or shouldn't I buy... (clothing item)?

For an unlined, summer shoe - would be used for some city walking (though I'll take sturdier shoes too) and some sitting around beaches: My only worry would be durability/general usefulness of a moc loafer, it seems a less common style?

    The Look goes on...

@Bela Kun I've found CT's 'classic' fit to be really variable. At least on their cords it's more like a slim-straight, even tapered. You look pretty thin, so I'm guessing you're down at the lower end of their waist sizes (especially as their lowest is 30!) - I think their classic fit goes wonky...

    Mod to Suedehead

I tried on some ED-55 and thought they were pretty low rise, though they advertise it as 'medium'. Lee 101z and 101 rider might work for you. My 101z have a decent rise (enough to tuck a shirt into to, not quite natural waist level) and are slim-straight, with what feels like a very slight...

Ah, this was the M3. I wasn't familiar with the different fits, just the cachet of the brand name.

@orange fury , what's the sizing like on your Bill''s? They seem to have hit some shops in the UK now so I tried a pair of the flat front heavy twill ones today, in my usual 32, but found them to have a surprisingly low and uncomfortable rise. Do you size up a little?

    MoneyWellSpent's Southern Trad Thread

It does seem (from the Internet ) that Americans take more pride in their university. I can't imagine ever wearing a Cambridge blue blazer to a sporting event, unless I'd been a significant member of the team and earned it. Similarly, when reading older novels I'm always amazed by phrases like...

    The Look goes on...

Barbour jackets are terrible for this (or great, depending on your view!). The sleeves seem to get even shorter at sizes 38 and below, too. I quite like the layering of its sleeves if I'm wearing barbour -> jacket -> jumper -> shirt but if I'm only wearing a shirt or jumper then it looks really...

    Cheaney

I've been wearing a pair of second-hand Cheaney brogues for a couple of years now, and recently had them resoled. They had the original soles when I got them but the UK weather and cobbled streets chewed them up pretty quickly. The uppers are fairly creased but still strong. Does anyone have...

Friday Challenge - Overcoats for Cold Weather

Nice! I have a very similar vintage coat in a Crombie herringbone wool with the same button layout, raglan sleeves, cuff adjusters, and belted back. Unfortunately I find the raglan shoulders to be a little loose for my sloping shoulders so I tend to only wear it casually.

    Meermin Mallorca Shoes

Does anyone here have the brown country calf LWB? Is it a dark brown or medium? Quite hard to tell from their pictures.

    LOAKE APPRECIATION THREAD

What colours are you looking at? I was also interested in these and had a look in a store nearby but decided that none of the colours were particularly nice. The brown was much lighter in person than online - I think that generally, as much as I like their shoes, Loake do a bad job representing...

Your experience with losing weight and suit size

I would also watch your shoe size. I went from 200 to 160 recently, and slowly replaced clothes when I reached a stable weight. I hadn't considered that my shoe size would change, but after another couple of months I started to notice that my old pairs were far too loose and am now finding that...

Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread 2017- News, Pictures, Clothing, accessories, etc.

Ah, but there's £80 of shipping and duty on top of that, unfortunately making them the same price as a new pair of Loake 1880s, which I know I can try on in my town. Ignore my question, for now!

Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread 2017- News, Pictures, Clothing, accessories, etc.

I've just noticed that AE are selling MacNeil's for £160... far cheaper than any comparable shoe I could get here! So, I'm likely to order a pair (Dark Chilli, I think) but need to work out my sizing. If I'm an 8.5F in Loake's Capital last, which is apparently quite TTS though slightly...

Random fashion thoughts - Part II (A New Hope)

The "car" analogy doesn't quite work here, unfortunately. There are far more sources of data, e.g. (and it's been a while since I've looked at this in detail, too, I'm sure there are far more ways of doing this now!) - known cookies your browser is presenting - the user-agent/operating...

SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread

Does anyone know what S&M's shipping rate for the UK is? I can't find it on their site.
