Anyone have experience with Rancourt's welted boots?

No, but they have the appearance of a beautiful and well made boot...

    Wool stain removal or 'darkening'

Espresso might be a good temp fix, especially because you can control the color pretty easily. It will dry clean out every time though. Not sure about you, but I rarely take anything to the cleaners though, so it may be that you have to restrain after you take them in. Good bought on the coffee...

    A Needle in a Haystack?

Sans A Belt is exactly what you're looking for. You may have to dig a bit to find them on sale. Looks like MSRP is $75. You can always find Dockers on sale.

How to buy a properly fitting shirt..... / how to do the military tuck

Even when you find shirts that are long enough, the military tuck or just "shirt tuck" is good to know. It keeps a wrinkle free, unmussed front, helping to manage whatever excess fabric exists at the waistline. A "gig line" is also visually important. You can go to all the trouble to buy nice...

    Mysterious stains on shoes

Looks like the leather took the polish unevenly. Were there spots where there was more or less "orange peel" or texture in the leather? If so, the polish may have just filled in those spots relative to the spots around them, causing them to darken. I was in military school, and one of the things...

Best $100 You Ever Spent on One Item?

Gnrl Qrtrs black, hooded cardigan. Big, goat horn buttons and nice detailing. I've had it for years and it still feels like a stylish go to for a trip to Sunday market, brunch or a casual night out.

    Magnanni Appreciation Thread

I have had several pairs for years now. I bought more classic styles with nice detailing at reasonable prices from Nordy's. They're comfortable and work well with most of what I wear in my business casual attire. I don't spend a lot of time in anything other than jeans and scrubs, so spending...

    Quality shoes for under $250

LL Bean isn't some obscure brand that only seven people have heard about, but the Katahdin Iron Mountain Boot is made in the USA, is well constructed and is $239 in cordovan, $189 in black. It's Goodyear welted and Vibram soled. While not a cap toe, it meets your other criteria, and you'll be...

    Is this too tight?

In general, I'd say that creasing beside the buttons indicate that a shirt is a bit too snug. That said, it isn't obviously toooo tight.

Varvatos Bowery Boot, What to Wear?

I got an absolute steal on these and love the way they look while they sit in my closet. And they sit in my closet because I'm struggling to figure out what to wear them with. I'm 41, 6'4" 195#, broad shouldered and athletic. I am generally stylish, but not trendy. An average Saturday is spent...

Comment by 'alolio' in article 'Aren't technically almost all shoe leathers corrected grain?'

Check out Horween leathers for some very solid detail on the various types of leathers and production processes. And, get a peak into a great American company producing great products. I'm in love with Chromexcel #8. It might be the most beautiful aging leather I've ever seen...

Should your belt always match your shoes?

I prefer them to match both in color and in "formality", meaning a buff black belt, shined black shoes and a suit aren't a great fit. A higher shine black belt is a better match. And the underappreciated "gig line" needs emphasis when tucking your shirt and belting your britches.

    Introduce yourself.

Hello, I'm Kris, and this feels like I'm introducing myself to a support group, which in some measure,I suppose this forum is. I'm 40, a medical device sales rep who generally dislikes suits and so wears scrubs all day. This means that the money I do spend on clothes goes toward streetwear -...
