Shoe question - Is bookbinder always bad?

I suspect there are different quality levels as well and not all bookbinder is equal. I have a pair of Church‘s which I bought before I knew better. They have held up very well, are not too shiny and are now doing service as my rainy weather shoes.

Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

I unintentionally went down half a size for mine due to human error, i.e. me being in a rush and getting my sizes wrong. They fit, little toe touches the side a bit more than in my calf leather dovers, but not really noticeable due to the softness of the leather. Can‘t comment if my usual size...

    Ongoing Bespoke Projects

It is a standard dress shoe (Edward Green on 202 last) so yes, I had thought about it but pretty much ruled it out. I was wearing different shoes at the first fitting though. Will try and wear a different shoe tomorrow (the problem being that most of my shoes are 202 EGs).

    Ongoing Bespoke Projects

Hi everyone, A quick question. I have had two bespoke trousers made for me, one in Crispaire and another in a heavier Scabal flannel. The first pair tended to get stuck on the heel cup / back of my dress shoes, so that it would ride up at the back. My tailor thought that it is mainly an issue...

HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part IV (starting May 2014)

Personally, I thought it looked very well put together. Would I wear it? No. Is @MichaelSpyker going to wear it in five years‘ time? Most likely not. But that‘s fashion for you.

Can You Tell The Difference Between Bespoke and Ready-to-Wear?

Something I have learned from limited experience getting stuff made bespoke: - I enjoy getting a lower buttoning point for my jackets. Lower than would be possible for my body type in combination with the MTM blocks in use currently. - Robopose photos tell only half the story. I think it is...

Congratulations indeed. So do you think you are going to continue dressing to the nines? A conundrum methinks.

Yes to wearing it with. brown tweed jacket sans tie perhaps or a non—shiny navy tie. No to a navy suit.

I find that a bow tie makes you instantly not-corporate and therefore like wearing one when dressing up outside of work. See 1st step‘s post.

Fit on a kind of pricey l, semi-custom suit: what do folk think?

From what one can see not bad at the front, (hardly visible) back, back of the neck, sleeve length. Sleeves would have to be rotated for a cleaner fit. Not a fit guru though myself so there are more experienced voices on this forum.

tallish thin runner - trying to start thinking about dressing well

Sorry, I should really say that I got carried away and some of these places are actually quite expensive. So they might only make sense if you know that you are happy spending this kind of money on clothes. Eckerle is a good starting point for someone who wants quality clothes and most of the...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

I like it. Doesn't look very tweedy to me. What‘s the hand of this fabric like? Guess the advantage of these slightly more unusual patterns is that you can wear a tailored jacket without looking like a banker you have to wear tailored clothing in order to conform to conservative business dress dress codes.
