Many thanks for that perfect answer. I shall go for the Connaught.

Many thanks for that explanation, which perfectly answers my question. I shall, I think, go for the Connaught.

They are Conistons, right? The laces don't seem to be drawn up tightly. Is that just the way they fit?

** Quintessential Crockett & Jones Thread ** (reviews, quality, etc...)

Thanks for that. I shall bear that in mind. The Connaught is advertised on their website as being 'the original classic' straight cap, whereas the Radstock is described as 'a classic' straight cap. One assumes that the Connaught is slightly more formal, but it's hard to tell from the pictures...

** Quintessential Crockett & Jones Thread ** (reviews, quality, etc...)

I am thinking of buying another pair of formal, black, cap-toe Oxfords, and I like C&J a lot. I already have a pair of their 'Hallam' in black, but I feel they are not quite formal enough (too pointy in the cap-toe). I don't want to pay the extra for hand-grade, so the Lonsdale and Audley are...

Ask A Question, Get An Answer... - Post All Quick Questions Here (Classic menswear)

For many years I have owned two pairs of black, full brogue Oxford shoes (one pair being a pre-Prada Church's 'Henley', the other an Edward Green masquerading as Poulsen & Skone, bought from New & Lingwood shortly after they acquired the name). I often wore these shoes in London with a formal...

    Church's Appreciation Thread

'It seems that some years ago Church's called their oxfords (the model without any decoration) Balmoral and renamed it as Consul' Hi Juan. Just a small but important point here: an 'Oxford' shoe is not necessarily 'without any decoration', as you describe it. It refers purely to the...

    Crockett & Jones Slippers

Like the great majority of Northampton shoe-makers, C&J's velvet slippers are outsourced from Bowhill & Elliot, who make them at their factory, which is located behind and beneath their retail shop in London Street, Norwich. You might well be better advised to buy such slippers direct from B &...
