Rather strangely I was investigating how to clean crepe soles only yesterday. Apparently curd soap (aka hard soap) works. Get it all over the sole then work at it with a stiff brush. So today I experimented with this method on a pair of three-year-old Clarks desert boots. And it showed great...- Olderfellow
