These shoes were on ebay very briefly today. Really cool pair. Gold welt. No medallion. Pretty sure these were made in the 1950s. https://www.ebay.com/itm/304875845341

The leather feels good. Seems supple. You have a lot more experience with 1930s pairs than I do. I probably shouldn't have scheduled the auction to end during the super bowl. Go Chiefs!

The leather is still supple. Which seems amazing. But I am not putting much pressure on them with my fingers. I like the six eyelet design.

I am not sure the shoes are wearable. More of a museum piece. The leather is 80 to 90 years old so I don't think it would stand up to much wear. They are very handsome shoes. Nice color. The welt stitching on these older pairs is amazing. The outsoles have a closed channel. I have had them in...

The opening bid was $0.99 the other day. Maybe someone told the seller that they are rare shoes.

This listing made me chuckle. That's sealskin. But points for the "faux log wood grain" description. https://www.ebay.com/itm/374492787740

Its worth a shot. Glycerin is fairly cheap. But it sounds like leather has dry rot and that can't be fixed.

Polished cobbler. They are in the 1992 catalog: https://vcleat.com/johnston-murphy-1992-catalog/

Okay. I added both the Frye pair and Royal Tweed pair. Its way down the page past Alden. https://shellcordovanmodels.com/#Frye

Not vintage but I like Alden's black patent models. They usually have a hot pink colored liner which might make them the coolest Alden models.

I agree. That's the most important measurement. I usually wear a 11.5D in an Imperial but 11.5C and 12C fit okay. A 11D Standmok fits me well. My Nike sneakers are 12.5. And my KISS Starchild Boots are a 12.

I really wanted this Florsheim 97604 pair. Sold twice in a week. If there was a hall of fame of shoe injustice, this pair would have an entry.

Glad you got them. That pair was shipped today. If they were my size I would definitely wear them on the course. The "Shrunken Calf" FootJoy used is pretty nice.

I agree. I have never seen a Shell Cordovan version of the that Varsity style

Thanks. From my catalog sources, long wings started showing up in shoe maker catalogs in the early to mid 1950s. Definitely a post war style.

This is me in action the other day. Wearing my beloved Nettleton long wings.

Yes, a 180 welt is unusual. I can't remember seeing that on a shoe before. The color looks like burgundy in the photo. Dusty burgundy.

I love that pair. Or at least the photos of the pair. What is sad (to me), is that I have been looking for a brown NOS LB Sheppard in brown for a long time in 11.5 D. During that time you have found two pairs of wide NOS Hanover shoes. There have been a few injustices in the world, but this is...

Sometimes I am the best at drinking Tequila. Those are good looking shoes.

I found the model in a 1966 Florsheim catalog. Its called the Beacon. Nice looking pair of shoes. Fantastic shape.
