Paul Sargent (formerly Alfred Sargent) Appreciation Thread

Thanks! Skomaker Dagestad in Norway has both the Mahogany and the Rustic in stock, my guess is that they MTO and then resale. One more question if you don't mind, what width feet do you have and how does the width of the boots feel?

Hello. I am considering getting a pair of Cambridge boots in the 87 last, I am unfamiliar with such last and was wondering if TTS is the way to go to wear with medium thick socks. Thank you in advance!

Is this normal for Crockett & Jones?

I would send them back if full price was paid, I pay C&J full retail to get better than that, whether a cosmetic issue or else. If I bought them on a sale or was made aware they were worn at the store then I would consider keeping them.

Yes that is how it is now, but those are EU laws. Once the UK goes Brexit they may or may not charge VAT for exports, it's up to them (the wait-and-see thing discussed earlier).

Yep, let's wait-and-see, I have no urgency atm. It could end up bad for everyone outside the UK though....UK charges VAT regardless if they are shipped abroad and our local government charges import fees :(

Hello gents! Do any of you know what's going to happen after the Brexit when it comes to importing shoes/boots into the EU? Are we folks living in EU not going to get charged VAT? or are we? I have a few pairs I'll put on hold if that's the case *crosses fingers* Regards, El Fede

Hello Hasselmannen! For those days I'm planning on using the Snowdons I recently got, and getting rid of the Islays, those were my first quality boots, inexperience had me go for one size too small, even with thin socks. Harlechs are next in the list and even if they can take it, I would feel...

Thanks for sharing your experience on the sizing of last 341. The lindricks are very nice, but I'm taking a break on brogues for a while, got enough of them for my needs. Would you consider resoling the Harlechs on a more Stockholm friendly sole, say dainite? Or would you just go for double...

Any Harlech in Dark Brown shell but in Dainite going atm?

I am almost certain they are from the factory. The seller is a reseller, you can see in the pictures that there are other boxes in the background labeled "SUBS" and also upon investigation on the seller, he has about 90 listings for "new with defects" and "previously owned pairs"...I'd say he...

Those Galways are nice, but second hand subs for that price is a bit steep if you ask me. I'd wait a few weeks and contact the seller with an offer closer to what I'd be willing to pay for them :)

Thank you for your answer. This year we still have sprinkles of summer even though it's supposed to be autumn here in Stockholm, I'll certainly post a pic or two once they arrive and the proper occasion to use them for the first time arises. As for the Harlech I like the Whiskey better but deep...

So I finally pulled the trigger on the Snowdons, been going around in circles too long and the season is just around the corner. Rugged boots check! But....but....I browsed in their boot section a bit and boy oh boy...suddenly the need for a bit dressier derby boot arose, and it has a name...

I'm happy to hear your boots have held up well. Yes, the sizing, I'm brannock UK9 and the UK9 I tried felt good with thick socks...but then I'm limited to wearing them only when it's cold, Swedish cold. Then I tried the UK8.5, they felt snuggish on normal socks....an UK8.75 would be perfect...

Hello people, Just wondering if any of you guys has recent first hand experience with the Snowdons. I have read here and there that the leather can be flimsy at times but then again, who knows? If you can comment on that particular aspect I'd appreciate it. I just don't want to shed that much...

Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

Hello. A couple more questions if you don't mind. I found the Galways in last 64 at quite a good price at WR&Co ltd. However, they are F fitting. My left foot is slightly wider in the front, yet, I have always stayed with "normal" width and chosen generous lasts, is F much wider or just...

Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

Hello, Quick question. "Normally" UK equals US minus 1 (UK9 = US10). Not in Edward Green, UK9.5=US10....So, one of the two is brannock off by half a size...say I'm 9UK=10US brannock...should I go 9.5/10 or 9/9.5 in Edward Green size? This would be for Galways in last 64....or maybe 82...

Edward Green Appreciation: Pictures, Info, and Where to Buy

Quick question regarding Galways in last 64 Veldtschoen variation, the welt stitch, is it stitched to a canvas rib (gem) or is it stitched to the insole? Can't seem to find the answer online by myself....
