Serious question? You bought the wrong shoe rack. Bring it back and exchange it! You need space for much more than one pair. And you know it!

One reason for not using a metal shank is air travel! I'm glad I don't have metal shanks in my shoes, at least when I'm able to convince the security personnel that it won't beep even if I keep them on ;) What about fiberglass shanks?

Too bad. Thye about look in line with most non running shoes I see at the office. Just yours are "nice" cap toe bals vs. weird square toe monsters I see :)

Very well put! And in case that wasn't clear: Much thanks to DFW from me too. It wasn't SF for me but actually first Marcell Mrsan's blog, then the CC with the books and lots of great posts by DFW and others and then also the Carreducker blog that informed me. I really want to make my own...

Oh I'm sure there's "reason" enough for cheap. How could ordinary people afford different shoe styles every half year if the shoes weren't so cheap that they fall apart after 6 months anyway? (please adjust sarcasm detectors now ;)) Seriously though I think that yes there are even proper...

Just curious. What exactly did you not like about the rubber half soles? I'm pretty happy with my Topy. I can't imagine Vibrams would be worse?! Isn't the vtread basically like a rubber half sole, just "built-in"?

You're in good company. I got oddly excited when someone at work mentioned that he knows my shoes are AE. Oddly enough thats all he said on that topic lol He does wear Wolverines a lot.

No miracle at all. Sounds like any old suede protector spray. Don't buy into all the new fangled marketing crap like "nano protector" (see above). These have been around for ages. They're just adding marketing twists from time to time to distinguish themselves from the competition.

I can only agree with you that this is not great, being a 3E myself. Then again I live in Canada and have never tried an AE on in a brick and mortar store ever and I had to pay $40 (US!) shipping every time. So rejoice! You get free shipping, and you don't pay an extra 40% or so on top and...

I am thinking theres wisdom in the not reviving but for other reasons. Looking at the shoe snobs method of polishing he seems to use two tins of wax polish. One fresh one and one dried up one. Seems he needs to buy a new one AND keep the old one ;)

I have very wide feet. I bought shoes like that once because I needed some shoes I could ruin at paintball. Business trip so no appropriate shoes with me. Cost me all of 9EUR tax included. Looked about the same I'd say lol

Warranty: What warranty? If you mean sending back, that depends. I sent back some Leeds that I had put a Topy on after months because they just weren't leaving my pinky toe alone. Mind you I had some other Leeds in the same size just different color that are fine now. They took them back...

Was the trainer from out of town? What's the weather like? I mean crappy shoes OK sure, thats bad (though all too common). Same shoes? Heck yeah. I wore the same Walnut Leeds three days on training since that is all I could carry in the carry on. Was traveling in heavy winter boots and...

Yes. I do that all the time. Looks great in my opinion. I didn't do it on purpose. Just had bourbon polish from another pair and no walnut polish. Given what everyone says here about how orange walnut polish is I won't switch.

Sure. Thing is these Leeds I was talking about differed in color only. Everything else was the same. So either it was the specific piece of leather they used or how much they stretched it over the last or something else I can't think of.

**The Official Shoe Care Thread: Tutorials, Photos, etc.**

Yeah I thought so too but my one pair of Leeds never stretched and always kept pinching my pinky toe. Had to exchange them in the end. The other pair in the same size however did stretch and is fine now... I'd say as always: It depends :)

Wow that sounds like they really don't want people to come to their stores any longer but just order 5 pairs online and ship 4 back. All while they pay for the shipping. I have not had any issues returning shoes. I live in Canada so I pay for shipping but AE has taken back two worn shoes...

Sounds like you'd rather want to call CAC then. Just for fun you might also start a discussion with the SA about the meaning of "hand"made ;)

200CAD? I would hope to get a resole cheaper than that. At least at the local cobbler.

I use Ladder Lacing on my Danner Recon. http://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/ladderlacing.htm And yes I do unlace and relace about half the boot every time. Wouldn't be able to get in and out otherwise. Also with the ladder I can actually make Iindividual holes tighter than others and it stays...
