Sure you are going to get a lot of opinions, but I think most will agree you should not be considering burnished brown right now. It is a beautiful color (I own three models), but I think it's a tad too conservative for your current situation. Since coat is optional for you, stick with...

Everyone has different tastes as amphillips has pointed out. But, as Franklin said, the Merlot color is actually the more conservative of the burgundy options. I prefer Merlot to Oxblood precisely because it is more conservative, but still not black. I'll post a photo tomorrow, as I plan to wear...

Honestly,, maybe it's the angle, but I can barely see it. I have seen far worse, even on my own feet. I have one pair of 9.5 65's that bow and many that don't, and one of my 10's does and the other doesn't. Both those pairs with the bowing feel good on my feet, so its never really bothered me.

Versatility is relative to your wardrobe and what personal values you want to portray with your attire. First, why would you think a red shoe (oxblood) would be more versatile than a shoe with both red and blue in it (Merlot)? In my opinion Oxblood just stands out more, it isn't more or less...

The 65 is notoriously difficult. The last itself is designed to be longer than the foot, though most people don't seem to like this. The correct 65 size for me in length and width is 10C. However, the 9.5D has virtually the same width while feeling more usual in the length. I usually opt...

So I didn't really get to wear these for Merlot Monday, but I did get to try them on when I got home. I'm in love with Merlot and the Strand all over again.

Of coarse, you and I may be the only two people here that would feel comfortable wearing a bow tie and jacket to the mall (not to mention a PS).

As always, depends on what else you are wearing. What I would wear to the mall is most likely more formal than what others might wear, so I would definitely wear tan Strands or McAllisters there, but that's because creased chinos and a dress shirt (usually a coat as well) is as casual as I...

Is that a bal longwing? They look killer. Edit: never mind. I was looking on my phone and couldn't see well.

I'm really considering the broad street, but not sure about the 73. Can anyone tell me how it compares to the 65 and/or 333? It says more room across the forefoot, but with the angle, I'm having a hard time figuring out whether to try 65 size or go up.

You are at least half right about the crepe soles. I'm not sure how long they will last, but most crepe I've seen look quite worn in a fairly short period of time. This is fine for a ruggedly worn boot, but I have been perplexed by AE's choice of models to put it on this season. Hopefully...

I don't think this is a minority view at this point, but I love these kinds of questions and must display my overly inflated ego by putting my four cents in on the matter. I mostly agree with the Count on this. Charcoal (if true charcoal and not mid gray which I often see labeled as such) is...

Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread 2016 - News, Pictures, Sizing, Accessories, Clothing, etc

I bought some brown MGs a few months back and had a pretty rough go at it, but when I finally got a pair that was actually dark brown, they were impeccable. The only thing I have found that could possibly be considered wrong is a very slight eyelet misalignment on one shoe, so slight that I...

Allen Edmonds Appreciation Thread 2016 - News, Pictures, Sizing, Accessories, Clothing, etc

There is really no such thing as "normal" creasing. Every shoe and foot combination are going to crease slightly different, even on the same last. There is such a thing as abnormal in that the spray AE puts on may crack and exaggerate the creasing, or really dry leather may crack. Some creasing...

Exactly my point. For those who work in a "business" dress environment, they don't make much sense. But for those of us who wear tropical suits and light colors in the summer because we would otherwise die of heat exhaustion, they make wonderfully nice additions to our wardrobes.

I haven't seen a specific discussion on this subject in a very long time, so I'm not sure to what discussion you are specifically referring. Perhaps it took place while I was away for a few weeks recently. If so, I didn't get to put in my four cents worth. Of coarse tan is a more casual color...

If the 50 is the main reason you are considering the FA, forget about it. I've been wanting a merlot McAllister for over two years and haven't bit the bullet yet myself. Don't be like me. If you have the dollars, get em. I want them in the v-tread and hope to get them the next time they go on...

Merlot McAllisters would be best choice if you wear suits a lot. I would get a lot of use out of the walnut FA, but it depends on your wardrobe.
