gun question - I would like to understand this

What's your point? An ex-con who I bet had an illegal weapon anyways. Like gun control would have prevented this. Please. Truly a sad story but does little to back any claim. Not intending on making a point since I don't know enough about the issues to even try to speak authoritatively. Was...

    comments/questions on these c&j ?

roger, thanks - the apron is hand stitched, the sales lady mentioned that a few times. The AE tree's are a small, maybe they do fit right just feels like they are too tight. Strokeman- i didnt mean conservitive in that sense, i meant in the sense that they will last a few years without looking...

WTF w/ppl am I the one wrong?

FYI, there are immature, idiotic dweebs from Holland, who have gone to Cambridge and who, ostensibly, "know stuff". +1 On the point about being conservative or old fashioned, or both; I might qualify (Harrovian, Oxonian), and I've seen THE ACT in public. It surprised me, but then only...

    comments/questions on these c&j ?

It depends on what conservative means to you. In most law firms, probably not. On "casual Fridays" or those with business casual policies, then they'll be fine, but then ex hypothesi "conservative" isn't necessarily the touchstone...

Paolo Scafora Bespoke Shoes Have Arrived

Not my style Andrew, but very nice nonetheless. +1 and we should encourage Mr Portnoy in this direction, for at least it may mean more EGs, JLs and G&Gs for the rest of us.

Ph.D. or PhD on business card

I can't find the post but someone made reference to the fact that a medical degree takes longer to attain than a doctorate which, often, is not the case. My degree requires a 2 yr MS, 5 yrs of coursework than an additional year or 2 of post-doc fellowship to attain licensure. Just a thought...

Ph.D. or PhD on business card

Hundreds of years before PhDs were first conferred, by German Universities, physicians were called 'doctor'. In most anglophone nations MD is a higher degree on par with PhD. This is the order of academic standing at Oxford (at least according to Wikipedia)...

Your Suit Is Making You Stupid

Don't forget your scholar's gown and carnation. Ha yes, though my gown was of the more garden variety and I never bothered with the carnation. Much more important was getting out on the last day, avoiding the flour and egg bombs, and making one's way the Turf for a celebratory drink or four...

Your Suit Is Making You Stupid

The Virginia Bar Exam requires test takers to wear business dress. Sneakers are allowed, however, which kind of defeats the purpose. Oxford exams require subfusc: dark suit, black socks and shoes, white shirt and collar, and white bow tie. Mortarboards to be carried and not worn.

Heads Up! RLPL suits for £180!

^ Ah, virtually neighbours! E&R is most definitely a favourite. Walters? Acceptable, though range is somewhat limited. But you can at least get a decent cut there... I think most people would think that you were referring to the cut of your suit. Yes, that was my preferred place, over S&W...

Heads Up! RLPL suits for £180!

Good wine cellar too! What about you? Sounds like you know the place well! Up the Turl, right hand side, opposite the Welsh one, 2001. A most wonderful experience - punting, pimms, croquet, May Balls and Eights Week. I suppose Walter's and E&R are favourites of yours?

Unable to wear black shoes anymore!

I love black shoes. You guys are nuts. Agreed. I love my black shoes as well. Brown is lovely, eye catching and I have more browns than blacks, but when it's time to be serious at work then black easily rules. For me at least: Dress shoes = business shoes. Business = serious. Serious = black...
