i too was considering a filson but did a lot of reading up and grew to realize that their products just weren't the way they originally were. since u have been researching waxed canvas briefcases, i would assume u are looking to own a bag made of that fabric. i own the field bag in olive waxed...- Shalomp

filsons are great and iconic though there is an ongoing debate on the quality of their current produce compared to the vintage stuff i like that my VP bag was hand made by an honest craftsman putting his heart and soul in his wares. thanks guys... where i am at, there are no "proper" cobblers who can do resoling for a stitch down boot. the dainite heel of my 2030 service boot appears to be a simple glue job at least to me. but i am still skittish about it as i treasure my vibergs a hell lot. are there any resoling videos...- Shalomp

looks wise, i am leaning more towards the Heavy Olive Waxed Canvas/Brown Chromexcel. my field bag is made from the same heavy 24 / 37 oz canvas and i love how hearty it feels. breaking in would probably take longer as it is much thicker but if you're like me and u enjoy the breaking in process...- Shalomp

Another great video! :) Just like u, i too prefer a flap over the zipper as a lot of times i find myself not bothering to zip up which is why i went with the vermilyea pelle field bag instead of the brief case! The brass hardware is also another feature i look out for cos its tough and ages well.- Shalomp
