SPIER & MACKAY - Official Affiliate Thread

Recently needed to buy a suit for an event and ended up in Suit Supply (I’m in London) and wanted something under £1000 and reasonable quickly. The experience made me think of Spier from living in Toronto when they were just starting out. I fit into a 38L Havana at suit supply with little...

    The Official Dieworkwear Appreciation Thread

I have some ghurka shorts that are 5+ years old that I think were from 'At What Price Glory'. I haven't owned any japanese repro stuff but from what I have seen in store it is definitely nicer than the AWPG shorts. That said, they have been fine for the price and have aged pretty nicely as the...

The unofficial Drake's London Appreciation Thread

Hard to imagine what kind of stock will be on sale? Spring/Summer mostly? I always find the dilemma of options at these things to be too much! I normally grab a shirt or two and often scarves for my partner. I could go for overshirts/chore coats this time. Or maybe some shoes (sizes seem to go...

    Insulated waterproof coat recommendations?

I’ve only moved to England a couple years ago and found the damp cold really unpleasant at first. I kinda just got use to it. Trunk clothiers in London use to have a Japanese made raincoat with a liner that looked nice to me when I was perusing in there last year. I am on a hunt for a similar...

Lazymen, Chores, & Blousons: a thread for a new form of tailoring

Great thread. Universal Works has lots of jackets. More workwear vibes but they do have some in-between fabric choices. I picked up a solid navy seersucker "bakers jacket" from them that I have found very useful. They have had fun bright tweeds in the winter as well. I think 'jackets' like...

For the crowd that don't like the more streetwear/sportwear/Aime Leon Dore type stuff, what did you think of the new cookbook with Tobias Menzies? Did it feel like a return to form for you or nah?

Grabbed one of the needlecord chore coats. Not sure about sizing but I am in London so hopefully returns won't be too much of a thing. The Raglan sleeve tweed jacked was up in 38/40 and I was waffling about whether or not I should get it and it sold out! The search for the perfect (and that I...

I like the styling on the polo coat. Reminds me of some pictures of Eugene Tong from way back wearing overcoats over sportswear. I always thought he looked great. I like the styling in lots of stuff drakes does that doesn’t get much love here. It would be so boring if it was the same themes all...

Yikes. . @cristofromkensington I thought the Tories were pretending that racism doesn't exist and here you are saying the quiet bits out loud. You should have another listen to that weird song Gavin Williamson tried to bring to schools (Aren't we all one after all?).

I have lived in London for a bit under 2 years. In that time drakes have had a big haberdasher st. sale (r.i.p.) and regular archive sales. I would guess this will continue moving forward. You will continue to be able to get stuff at significant discount but it might not be the pieces you would...

Lots of shirts from 15 1/2 to 16 (this is where I was looking). Less ocdb’s (my preference), kind of an eclectic mix of stuff (gingham checks, odd stripes etc). Tuxedo shirts going for a song in the corner. Jumpers I didn’t really look at for long but there was a table full of stuff. I remember...

The unofficial Drake's London Appreciation Thread

Just left the London sale. I arrived around 5 and it was quiet. Left closer to 6 and it was quite busy but no queue. Previously posted pricing seems correct. I was surprised by the amount of good looking tailoring. I don’t own any drakes tailoring and found it to be too boxy for my lanky frame...

I might try to pop into the London sale after work tomorrow. Anyone been to one of their sample sales before and have an idea (or wish to speculate wildly) as to pricing? Like are we talking ‘archive sale’, previous haberdasher st outlet pricing etc

The Official Thrift / Discount Store Bragging Thread Part III (Sept 2018-)

Cross posting this over here from another thread. Moved to London shortly before the pandemic and am now looking to sell some stuff. Nothing terribly fancy, lardini/suit supply type stuff. I had used luxeswap when I was living in Toronto but am now looking for a local equivalent.

    Gurkha Trousers

I have a pair off Gurkha trousers in a dark brown peachedcotton mtm from when I lived in Shanghai. They weren’t crazy expensive or anything but not a great purchase imo. As they have gotten older and tossed in the wash etc they actually look better. Workwear vibes are a much better look, I...

    Luxeswap of the U.K.

38, 38l, 39/40 pretty down the middle size wise

    Luxeswap of the U.K.

Thanks for the replies. I have browsed through marrkt but was unsure they would be a good fit. I’ll ask them and see (or take to eBay myself).

Moved to London shortly before the pandemic and am now looking to sell some stuff. Nothing terribly fancy, lardini/suit supply type stuff. I had used luxeswap when I was living in Toronto but am now looking for a local equivalent. Obviously lazy to deal with the hassle of selling but would...

Anyone have any sizing guidance on the archer motif sweatshirts? I am about 38l - 40. For more slim cut knitwear like Howlin jumpers I am a medium. I was thinking of going 40 as it would account for a bit of shrinkage and if not a slightly oversized sweatshirt is not without its charms.

I just grabbed a blue oxford shirt. Was going to grab a the blue needlecord overshirt but was too slow. Between the factory store's big sale before closing and the frequent archive sale I've picked up 7 drakes shirts this autumn. Rather pleased with myself but I think that might be all I need...
