Vintage Dress shoe appreciation, tips, maintenance and advice

Would anyone know the brand/manufacturer of this pair? I bought them for my partner, and I don’t recognize the logo at all.

The Official Thrift / Discount Store Bragging Thread Part III (Sept 2018-)

Popping in here to ask if anyone can identify these recently thrifted shoes. This is just for my own curiosity, because they will be worn by my gf.

The official thrift/discount store bragging thread - Part II (May 2015 - Sept. 2018)

Meanwhile, 4 hours down the road from the Twin Cities, I just had a thrift store manager tell me that the two pairs of ancient, unpriced AEs* were $88.50, because they charge 1/3rd of the regular used price of $300. :puzzled: *One pair were actually Aldens, but had AE trees in them.

Thanks, but it's actually the opposite - I know the model name and number, I just didn't want to dump it into the public domain. I was just offering to any SF members if they wanted to add it to their personal shell lists.

Delurking for a moment to say I've found a pair of AE shell that doesn't appear on any of the public lists of shell models. Given that this thread is easily found on the internet, you can pm for the model name and number if you want to add it to your list. I'm not asking for anything in...

     :hide: It's over 3 hours from where I live, so don't worry - I don't get up there without a non-thrifting reason.

Hey all - Thanks for all the great info in 2015. I mainly just read this thread, but it's great to know what's out there and what's worth a second look. Some finds from within the past month or so: Church's 8D AE Park Avenue 8D 3 Ties (Varvatos, the 'good' Givenchy and BB) 2 Eton...

I'll de-lurk for a moment to say based on my frequent trips back to Milwaukee (and here in Madison) there's probably more AE than elsewhere, but: a) the population probably wore/wears fewer dress shoes, and b) they're also pretty thrifty, so condition is going to be a big concern. You (or...

Hey I haven't done much thrifting lately, but I did just see this label - in the field so I could t find much sales history. Worth picking up? 1988 suit, pleated pants and for a larger man than myself.

Two ties I think are cool and unusual - one for the horse racing fan, another for the man who needs leather on everything:

A few recent finds from the midwest mines, then a couple of questions. Alden boots 10.5 - never seen Alden before here in the AE heartland! Mid 80s drum machine - finally just got power running to this Hanover shell longwings - probably a 12 Local author Not pictured: some boring shirts...

NEW MEMBER INQUIRIES & QUICK QUESTIONS- CLASSIC MENSWEAR: WK OF JUN 22, 2015

@Arkmemha - It appears to be from a Vanity Fair Italia ad. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/570901690233525912/ You might be able to read what the text says in the version linked there, but all I can decipher is that Calvin Klein, Brunello Cucinelli and Canali made parts of that outfit.

New York, New York / Tristate (seriously, most of the surrounding "towns" are bigger than some of the cities lower on this list) Harrisburg, PA - Eh, I guess. Not that major though....(and not where my best thrifting is either) Baltimore MD, may be a better choice...about equidistant. (and still...

Apologies for the poor photo, but does anyone know what this is? No tags anywhere and I'm more curious than anything. Doesn't seem to quite be a SC, jacket or vest.

The greatest sentence to hear upon entering a charity shop is "everything is half price today." Ties. Shirts. Scarf.
