Men's Hats: A Discussion Thread, Questions, Opinions, Suggestions...

Maybe we will see a minor comeback. We older ones would be well served by getting less sunlight to the face, and as one ages he gains license to dress however the hell he wants, regardless of current fashion. I may be projecting with this attitude, but too often from a hat wearing young man...

I was in Quito last month. I don't recall seeing a Panama hat on any locals, and I was looking for it.

Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions

We sit back while ebay lets buyers get screwed. I called ebay CS because a couple of sellers in China were using my pictures and descriptions for their counterfeit Thom Browne shirts. I was told "It is not a violation of ebay policies."

    Seiko Upgrade

These two are several years old, but this may be helpful. The Black Monster is an OK watch. The 7S26 automatic movement is notorious for running fast, and mine does go 3 or 4 minutes fast per week. I always liked the look and feel of the watch, still do. I bought a used Marinemaster SBBN007...

Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions

Today I found 3 exact copies of one of my listings (photos and description) from 3 different Chinese sellers, undercutting my price of course. New Old Stock made in USA Thom Browne OCBD. There is absolutely no way that these buyers have these items. Ebay: "Not a violation of Ebay policies."...

    What leather duffle bag?

Leather goods is not my area of expertise. All I am saying is that an applied layer of finish (like paint on wood) may chip and peel like paint on wood. While (like oil or stain on wood) oiled or stained leather will not have that problem because it does not have that extra applied layer.

    What leather duffle bag?

My suggestion is to be careful about the finish on the leather. I have a Brooks Brothers pebble grained leather wheeled duffel which looked great when new, but now is garbage because the finish is flaking off. If it had a different kind of finish it would just now be getting a nice patina...

Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions

Interesting day. I was out of town for the weekend and came home to a larger than expected group of orders. I sold a shirt in a multiple item (multiple sizes) listing and could not find it. Damn. It happens. Then another one. Then a guy ordered 4 shirts of the same size from another...

Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions

Just as soon as I post something complimentary about ebay customer service... Same buyer who lost the last one (matbra-1896) opens a not as described return for the second shirt that he bought. Not as described. He contends that this one measures 25 inches across the chest, significantly...

Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions

Update: I received a form letter from ebay this morning instructing me to pay for the buyer's return shipping. I called ebay customer service and explained the situation again. The rep told me that I would receive and email acknowledging escalation and that the complaint would be closed in my...

Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions

For you who want to consign things for sale, it seems from the responses here that the ones that I haven't tried are just as bad as the ones I have tried (The Real Real and Grailed). There are at least two reputable consignors who frequent this thread. I have used one with good results, and...

Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions

matbra-1896 Here is one for you. (UK buyer, if it was US I would just eat the expense and block.) Bought the same shirt (neck, color, fit) with two different sleeve lengths (32 and 35). Opened a not as described return for the 15.5-32 claiming that the chest measurement is 20 inches, not...

Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions

Two ways. 1. They have the right to set prices according to the agreement with them. The percentage paid to the seller is tiered by sales price. So at certain 'sold price' breaks they charge a considerably higher commission. They consistently set prices $1 below the price break. So by...

Buying and Selling on eBay: Tips, Tricks, Problems & Questions

You lost me at "Grailed". Anyone who has major complaints about ebay does not have experience with Grailed or The Real Real. TRR is the worst, a dishonest system which is abused by their employees.

Do any of you recognize this brand? It was manufactured by Brooks Brothers about 4 to 6 years ago.

The Official Thrift / Discount Store Bragging Thread Part III (Sept 2018-)

Yes, but is this the Hilfiger H logo? Google shows me something completely different. I may be wrong, but I think this is a smallish menswear company, something along the lines of Billy Reid, Epaulet, Carson Street Clothiers...that sort of brand.
