How do you keep yourself accountable from overspending?

https://www.styleforum.net/threads/mental-health-and-clothing.700768/ A continuation from that thread. We all have our definitions of "overspending", but I've fallen prey to lifestyle creep over the past 2-3 years. "I'll never be able to afford a house, might as well blow it on luxury goods!"...

What underwear is comfortable for large thighs?

This is not a troll thread. After my thighs got larger, specifically my inner thighs, I find I don't have as much real estate in the crotch area when wearing chinos/fatigues/jeans/etc. The crotch seams also tend to be thicker on casual pants vs. dress trousers. This has lead to discomfort, and...

    Mental Health and Clothing

I've debated making this thread for a while, hopefully something useful comes out of it. Trying to create a jumping off point for mental health discussion and its potential intersection with clothing. My own issues. In the past, I'd just pretend I didn't have any issues, nor did I have...

    Glasses inspiration thread!

Jacques Marie Mage - Wolves, Obnoxious Acetate and The American Dream | Styleforum That's the thread that started my current interest in glasses being a part of one's overall style. I was going to post inspiration photos there, but I feel like this deserves its own thread. I know I'm posting...

Good idea to dry clean a vintage coat right away?

I ordered a vintage wool overcoat coat that billed itself from the '40s or '50s. Should I get it dry cleaned right away when it arrives? My other idea was to chuck it in the washing machine and use some Eucalan wool wash. It has a 3/4 lining as well.

What to do with emerald green wool trousers?

Not one of the better choices I've made, especially as I had them made by my tailor. All I can think of is let them rot in my wardrobe, use them for future fittings, and then donate them.

    The Overcoat Thread

Post your favourite overcoats here. Using the term overcoat pretty loosely here, lightweight topcoats are fine. For me, this is mainly going to be B&Tailor spam, 3 per post. Raglan bonanza, maximum slouch, great pattern matching.

    Cotton double rider?

Anyone know a source? In my head, a black cotton double rider would give off the right vibes as long as it had all the right details/hardware. I've had leather jackets in the past and I'm not a big fan, especially of the cost.

Favourite source for olive fatigue/cargo pants?

Seems like there's tonnes of options out there. Not sure what ones are good and what I should be looking for. A mid-high rise with athletic fit would be nice. Mainly looking for a way to switch up from a standard pair of khakis. Budget is up to $135 CAD.

Has anyone dealt with self-clearing UPS' bullshit "Brokerage" fees?

https://www.theartofdoingstuff.com/how-to-avoid-broker-fees-just-in-time-for-online-xmas-shopping/#mv-creation-121-jtr I was hit with $80 in brokerage fees, and barely any actual taxes at $30. Apparently you can annoy UPS enough to have them send you documents for self-clearing. You then go to...

What's the difference between these thick overcoating cloths?

What is the functional difference between Melton, Duffel, and Hunting Pink? They all look the same to me. I asked in the cloth thread as well, but didn't seem like anyone knows. E-mailed moon with no response either. https://www.moons.co.uk/product/navy-6/ (Melton)...

Baoweizhi99 on instagram and bespoke clothing

I think he deserves his own thread. I've browsed bespoke tailors on instagram and he always seems to show up as a client. Namely B&Tailor and Steed, finally found his own page.

Where does Begg source their angora fibres from?

I wasn't aware of the torturous angora industry until after I bought my Jura scarf. Begg also hasn't answered my e-mail requests regarding the source either. Anyone here know?

Any suggestions on improving Ask Andy About Clothes?

@emptym if this isn't appropriate, feel free to nuke the thread. I'm not paid for making this post, but as I love posting on both SF and AAAC, I've definitely noticed AAAC has gone downhill whereas SF has stayed consistent and even improved. In my head, I think feedback from SF'ers would be...

When will the dick pill and ketoshill posts stop?

I'm tired of this seeing this ****. Can't the mods vet new posters? How about adding restrictions to new accounts? No new threads until you make 100 posts, as an example.

    OCBD as outerwear

It's too hot here to wear an OCBD, but too chilly for just a t-shirt. https://oxfordclothbuttondown.com/2018/08/ocbd-outerwear/ Using the OCBD as an outer layer over a t-shirt or polo seems to work nicely. I used to hate this look because lots of people seem to use this to "dress up" where I...

Pulling off a full cut khaki trench coat? I dress casually

Is a button down and chinos too casual for this? I'm still not 100% certain on this trench for my wardrobe.

    Reasonably priced Ghurka-ish shorts?

Something like that. I ordered from J. Peterman and it's been 6 weeks and they still haven't shipped. Any other alternatives?

Any reasonably priced high rise denim for men, athletic cut?

Frankly I can't find anything. For me high-rise denim is 11-11.5 front rise denim. Dark wash. The only thing I know of is wrangler's cowboy cut and I can't get any detailed measurements from the CS team, and I don't like waste and ordering a bunch of sizes. I'd also rather not deal with...

    How to press wool/silk/linen jacket?

I just went at it with a damp press cloth and set the iron to "silk". It turned out good enough, just curious to see the best method.
