I really like the 333 last. I have 2 pair of Harrisons and the University Wingtips on that last. I'm a 14C brannock and the 333 doesn't come in C width, so I opt for the 14D. The 333 seems to be a bit narrower last, so I don't really notice that much difference (slippage, etc.) despite the...

In my opinion you can't go wrong with the Harrisons in any color. Sleek for an AE shoe yet still manages to exude that no-nonsense, "traditional American dress shoe" aesthetic that AE is known for. And the Independence line calfskin is incredibly comfortable. My go to shoes for most occasions...

    The Allen Edmonds MTO Thread

Thanks Mike (and pepper). I have the Harrison (walnut and black) in calf and really like the independence sole as well. I'm doing the Rutledge in brown shell, so think I will just stick with the Independence sole with the wheeled/fudged edges.

Any thoughts on the Independence sole versus the Rendenbach sole (single or double)? Is wheeling an option on an MTO with the Rendenbach sole or is that exclusive to the Independence line?

europrep, Not to turn this into a watch appreciation thread, but love your CvdK watch (what little I can see of it). The Ariadne, correct?

    The Allen Edmonds MTO Thread

Has anyone done an MTO of the Rutledge in shell (brown or burgundy)? I love the Rutledge generally and am in need of another dark brown or burgundy shoe to bolster my collection. The Rutledge in brown burnished calf would be an alternative, but I think I'd be more interested in the shell...

+1. I have the Harrison in Walnut and am considering the Rutledge, as well. I have difficulty finding my size (14C) in other, higher-end brands and the Independence line seems like a nice bridge in a shoe that fits and which I can actually find. The higher-grade calfskin is wonderful and the...

    Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts?

Have you tried foot binding? Supposedly clears up any issues with flat feet, as well. I kid.

    Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot Review

I have a pair of the brown courtlands, as well. really like the look of this boot, though you don't see much love for it here on the 1K thread (I guess people tend to stick with the plain-toe model). I opted for the courtlands because I already have a pair of ancient (30+ year old) RW's that...

Red Wing Boots - Your Opinion

I cleaned them with saddle soap and used Obenauf's boot oil (not the HDLP) because that's what I have handy for conditioning. I do find that it softens the leather quite a bit so may switch to VSC or something else in the future. I also know some people think saddle soap dries the leather too...

Red Wing Boots - Your Opinion

Thanks for the vote of confidence anrobit. I love the way they look and guess that's what matters. I may reach out to RW to see what they recommend in terms of ongoing care, but suspect it will be much what I have been doing (other than neglecting their existence for the past few years...

Red Wing Boots - Your Opinion

You're right. Totally overthinking this. Nothing lasts forever, but these have some good years left on them and I dig the way they look, so I need to just go with how they are and do what I can to preserve them in the meantime. Either they are falling apart in the closet, in the trash or on my...
