    The Look goes on...

Agreed, we can't (and I don't) live in the 70s. But as far as movies go, the majority of well dressed (in my opinion) characters are from period piece films. Maybe my point that only films set in the 60s portrayed 'the look' was off. But even those Scorsese films are set 10+ years ago and not...

That BD quite a bit like one of Ivyskins Photos from the mid-60s, of students at East Kentucky University

Nick Frost and Martin Freeman were quite decently attired for a present-day film in The World's End. All the other new-ish films with anything resembling the look are set in the 60s. (Legend with Tom Hardy is one) For and older film, you really can't beat James Fox's clobber in the earlier...

Lacoste is still going. Izod-Lacoste isn't. Decent condition vintage blue-croc items are getting rarer. So if you see something, make it snappy and pick it up.

'The Fox' was JCPenney's version/knock-off of Izod Lacoste. Almost identical range and quality : Orlon sweaters/cardies, pique polos, Harringtons and drizzlers just a couple of dollars cheaper. I've owned both, and the only difference is the applique logo on the breast. At my school in the early...

My old-man beige raincoat. I'd like to think it makes me look like Frank Bullitt. In reality, it makes me look like Frank Butcher.

    Mod to Suedehead

I saw a few two-tone/black and white shoes in the '78-'80 period. Usually Mod revivalists in loafers, badgers, 'Jam' shoes and Shelly's/Mellanddi bowling shoes. Never the brogues though, and never on a Skin. I can't imagine an original from the '60s wearing them. I guess someone might have. Way...

I'm pretty sure the tassel loafers on the 'Dance Craze' LP cover were Frank Wright So yes, very late 70s/early 80s. I had a pair. Very 'chunky'. Back in the late 70s, they seemed the antithesis of 'glam' platforms (therefore good), but now, in hindsight, they seem 'a bit much'

Pretty chunky, but the most comfortable out of my loafers. They had a contrasting light-coloured heel/sole/lower, but I dyed that black with Fiebings leather dye. Leather sole and heel, with rubber over them, so quite grippy.

    Mod to Suedehead

I remember the football club name in a Lonsdale-style font on tees and sweatshirts in 80/81. I bought a claret coloured West Ham one from the market. It went pink after one wash. It faded, and dyed everything else in the wash. Just like my dreams.

Lonsdale's anti-racist stance/campaign was admirable. But the brand was purchased by Sports Direct, so now I associate it with Mike Ashley.

    Mod to Suedehead

I think the 'way too much shirt-cuff showing/short suit sleeves' might have been a thing in the very early 70s (71/72). Dave Allen, Charlie Endell in Budgie and Roger Moore were all wearing whistles that flashed near enough the whole blummin cuff at that time. In the 1971 'Everybody Loves a...

Lord Brett Sinclair's clothing was 'designed' by Roger Moore according to The Persuaders end credits. Would explain a lot.

I only remember Fiorucci 'Safety Jeans' from around '87 onwards. Their shop was indeed in Knightsbridge, right opposite that fancy corner-shop they have there. To me, I associate Fiorucci with Chipie, Chevignon, Liberto, and C17. Not really my thing. Like I've said, a long time after the mid-70s.

The vintage JCPenney/The Fox Harrington I ordered from the US turned up. Very nice quality. Better than I was expecting.
