Mark, would you mind sharing pricing information on the trousers you hade made, either here or by PM? Thanks in advance.

The Official Vanda Fine Clothing Thread

I can understand why some folks don't mind the lack of a keeper, but I find it annoying and sloppy to have the back blade flopping around all the time. To each his own, indeed. I wish the Vanda folks would accommodate my preference, but I suppose it's their prerogative to decline to do...

The Official Vanda Fine Clothing Thread

Yes, and they won't even add one by request on custom orders, which, unfortunately, is a deal breaker for me. I think their product is otherwise great, but the no-keeper thing just doesn't work for me. Fortunately for them, they seem to have enough customers who don't share my view.

    Morning suit with second jacket

well, this actually raises a good example re: the formality point. prince charles has worn a solid grey morning suit to ascot more than once, but when he married camilla parker bowles, for example, he wore a dark coat and striped trousers. draw whatever conclusions you wish. I like the...

    Morning suit with second jacket

I actually did this, using a mid-grey sharkskin from the Smith's formals book (I think the same cloth is also in one of their suiting books). I did the second jacket with one button and peak lapels, and it made for a great lounge suit that was slightly on the formal side, but not so much so...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

quoted for accuracy. riviera, rangoon, airborne, crown classic, and apparently now the lambswool jacketing book are all history. I cannot understand why they killed these books.

this is no fun given google's "search by image" feature.

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

I tend to look at it from this perspective: if a particular LL cloth is something I really can't find elsewhere, then I need to decide whether it's a cloth for which I'm willing to pay the tariff demanded. If a particular LL cloth is something for which there appears to be a reasonable...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

the everest 1000g cashmere was 450GBP per meter. have you come across it in real life? the tariff was stratospheric, to be sure, but the cloth is amazing. it has an incredible, dense hand that is both soft and resilient. I actually think the cloth will take more of a beating than one...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

I'm pretty sure the first edition of the eden in paris flannel was a lighter weight offering than the version that's in the new book of LL flannel offerings.

***Official Franco Ercoles Bespoke Thread (Brooklyn/Manhattan)***

I met with Frank for the first time last week to arrange a first commission. He's definitely a friendly guy and seems like a straight shooter. I'm looking forward to seeing how the final product turns out.

Rory Duffy Bespoke - A Savile Row master tailor in NYC

Although I can't speak for others, I can say for myself that I'm not suggesting there was a bad motive. But would you not agree, in retrospect, that the entire situation amounts to circumstances that, in the interest of full disclosure, probably ought to have been revealed in your initial...

Rory Duffy Bespoke - A Savile Row master tailor in NYC

$5k does seem a bit high, given all the circumstances. obviously, I can't speak to the value proposition. I don't think I would describe that pricing as much lower than the prices of the finest savile row shops.

Rory Duffy Bespoke - A Savile Row master tailor in NYC

for whatever it is worth, you have certainly piqued my interest in Mr. Duffy's trade, and I do agree that we are all better off with more options rather than less. for better or worse, effusive praise is often viewed quite skeptically around here - and I am just as guilty of that as anyone...

Rory Duffy Bespoke - A Savile Row master tailor in NYC

all fair points, to be sure, and I'm always happy to see another tailor setting up shop in nyc.

Rory Duffy Bespoke - A Savile Row master tailor in NYC

I don't know Mr. Duffy at all and, thus, have nothing good or bad to say about him or his skills. I have worked with a fair number of tailors, though, and will state for the record that, in my experience, Len Logsdail is as good as it gets. The man knows his stuff and produces...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

does anyone have any experience with the (now discontinued, apparently) scabal shetland jacketings book? if so, I would appreciate hearing what you think of it. I'm considering taking on an unfunded liability from that book. the cloth I'm looking at is 12oz, which seems a little bit light for...

Unfunded Liabilities: a/k/a The Cloth Thread

The "city" gun club is a specific cloth -- it's the most recent of the gun clubs. There should be a thread about it with photos on LL.
