HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part III

Love the Ford three-piece suit. It fits you perfectly. When you add the tie and ps, you have a superb look.

Ask A Question, Get An Answer... - Post All Quick Questions Here (Classic menswear)

Stopped into Brooks Bros today and saw a few items I'd really like. One was their Fitz cord blazer and another was their waxed cotton driving jacket. Both are $400 though. How big is Brooks after Xmas sale, both in terms of discount and availability of things? Is the discount over 50%? Are...

    Incotex and STP?

I would say it's a thin fit. I bought a pair of Incotex cords on STP. A U.S. size 36 waist usually fits me comfortably, but I had to have the Incotex cords I bought on STP taken out. They are well made trousers and well worth the extra trouble. Just be advised that they run small.

Is any of the Lands End stuff for men good?

Land's end does a decent "custom shirt," although of course it's not really custom, it's made-to-measure. Just remember that mtm is only as good as your measurements. It took me three orders to perfect the measurements. But it only cost $60 to $85 a shirt, unless you go for the sea...

Fictional Males on TV - Who is dressed well not in a showy way?

Mad Men beats them all, especially John Hamm as Don Draper. Style and elegance that transcends time and fashion.

    Why? Why? Why?

    Very tacky.

    1818 Suits

The 1818 is a quality, half-canvas suit. The current sale is a good one, especially if you need two suits. This is very unusual for BB at this time of the year. Typically, BB might have one or two "Friends and Family" 25 percent off sales until Christmas. Usually, on Dec. 26, BB has a...

    Opinion on this Norfolk Jacket

The wool looks much better, IMHO. Very nice. Great color and a unique, without being weird, style.

Very nice fit. Love the color.

    Washington, DC area tailors

Sorry about forgetting to mention price in my post on Field's. The most extensive work I had done at Field's was an Oxxford suit I bought at Filene's for about $1K a year and a half ago. Bill Field cuffed the pants, took them in a little in the seat, and created four buttonholes on each...

    Washington, DC area tailors

Field's does great work. It's a little more expensive, but it's worth it on a garment you really like.

Tom Ford - where does it fall?

Also, isn't Tom Ford cut really slim? I have a hard time seeing a CEO squeezing his body into a TF. I wouldn't say so. I'm about 6'1, 180 lbs, with hardly an athletic built, and the 42L TF suit I tried on at Bergdorf fit me as well as any RTW ever has.

Tom Ford - where does it fall?

Although Zegna manufactures Tom Ford suits, presumably Ford designs them. I tried one on at Bergdorf and loved it, but at 5K it didn't fit my budget. I'm far from an expert, but it looked beautifully made.

    Cufflinks without tie?

I often wear cufflinks with a sports coat, sometimes without a tie, and occassionally without a jacket and with a tie. I'm a pretty conservative dresser, but this rule strikes me as stodgy.

Why the insane price increases of polo the last few years

Given the midrange quality of polo, the current prices are ridiculous.

    D.C.

I have a last minute trip to DC coming up. I went to Philly last year and a lot of you here gave me some great useful information not only on shops to check out but restaurants and bars. Hoping to get some similar input. My GF and I will be staying at Hotel Madera in Dupont Circle. Bobber's...

Suit quality - Oxxford, Canali, or Isaia?

For me, the change has been in very ugly fabrics in high super counts for the suits and jackets (plus less patch pocket offerings on the odd jackets) and the stitching not as nice (and more machine work) than in years past. My favorite jacket that I own is an Isaia cotton/silk jacket from about...

Suit quality - Oxxford, Canali, or Isaia?

Do you think the layperson in a professional setting is going to take notice of this and form a negative impression, or is it just us prissy styleforum people who would care? Even among people who aren't style obsessed, as are many of us on the forum, large shoulder pads scream the 1980s.
