٭٭٭ No Man Walks Alone - Official Affiliate Thread ٭٭٭ (a.k.a. I shouldn't have slept on it)

I need to clean my BBJ patchwork coat. The thing is I've always found it a bit too big, so I'm considering washing it on hot and tumble drying. Has anyone tried this? I do expect the colour to run, but I wonder if it'll be enough to stain the lighter patches on the coat.

Grant Stone - Official Affiliate Thread

@GrantStone speaking of loafers, do you happen to have a side by side comparison of your pennies and the Alden LHS? For many of us it's the gold standard of American-style loafers

That pebble grain looks so good on the Ottawas. @GrantStone any plans to rerun it?

Equus Leather - English Handstitched Bridle Leather Belts - Official Affiliate and Review Thread

Interesting! I was aware of the historical leather and the MC haul but I had heard it was all deerskin. How does it compare to your other calf leathers in terms of thickness and pliability?

Equus Leather - English Handstitched Bridle Leather Belts - Official Affiliate and Review Thread

Forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere, but what kind of leather is Cuir de Russie? As in, what kind of hide is it made of and how do you achieve that grain?

I mean whichever process they used to achieve the effect on that denim shirt. It's best to just point them at the webpage and tell them you want the same. Plaid twills would be fine, yes.

OCBDs: no. Linen shirts: depends on the fabric but for most of them I'd say no. Distressing would look best on denims, chambrays, hardy twills and the like.

Luxire Custom Clothing - Official Affiliate Thread

I should've said business casual-friendly. People certainly wear them in more casual contexts. Looking at the example that CDRiis posted, it looks like I've been wrong about the degree of distressing that Luxire is capable of. My garment washed shirts didn't turn out anything like that, so I'd...

Luxire Custom Clothing - Official Affiliate Thread

A few things: - I was only speaking for myself when I said I found the garment-washing not to have a tangible effect. Others here might be satisfied with their garment-washed Luxire shirts - It would help if you described exactly what kind of shirt you're looking to make. Casual is a pretty...

Luxire Custom Clothing - Official Affiliate Thread

I'm sticking to dress and business casual shirts with Luxire. Someone else on the forum made the point that truly casual clothing looks off when made by a tailor or MTM operation, and I agree.

I've used that option but the results are nowhere near what you get with RTW.

They can work to any specifications you want, but that washed, broken-in look you get with casual RTW shirts (especially the puckered seams) is the product of an industrial process that they won't be able to duplicate.

Interesting, didn't know that was an option. It certainly gives the jacket some character

Yep, that's how I imagined it looks like. I've got a pair of Cxl loafers in a similar colour. I do like it but I'd also like to see something a bit darker and richer without any reddish undertones.

Is Castagno the dark brown veg tan leather shown at the top of this page? I do like the look of it, but I prefer the sheen of Chromexcel and the way it ages to veg tan. I doubt I would pick Casatagno if I had to choose between it and Chromexcel. Having said that, the Castagno is still what I...

Seiko Lord Marvel. Picked this up a while ago and haven't got the chance to replace the strap yet. What would you guys suggest? A closer shot to capture the texture of the dial: Bought for around $300 before shipping from Yahoo Auctions. For a small, thin, hand wound dress watch with a...
